if he did come back and played 4 match payments + possibly a bonus (which counts to the following year's salarycap)
if they make semis and he represents then I would have

2. smith
3 lyon
4 tahu
5 grothe

if timana has a bad year with his hammy, then burt will fight out the wing spot with the pl guys

Tactic #1: walk out and demand to be released........FAILED

Tactic #2: try and blackmail the club into releasing you.........FAILED

Tactic #3: ask for a release so u can play of Wee Waa.........partly FAILED - no full release

Tactic #4: threaten to leave Australia to get a release.......partly failed - still stuck with Eels in control

Tactic #5: pretend there is no problem, suck up to try and come back, act like everyone's best buddy.........???????

Sorry Jamie - you still seem like a self centred piece of sh*t to me.

Where's jamie's best friend Lyon is a saint? - what does Jamie want to leave his favourite new home St Helens? - surely not

Also my favourite part of the article

I don't know how some of the Parra people would feel about me saying this. They are entitled to be dirty with me

too true UTE

Lyon, when he walked out, "was quoted" saying something about not liking Smithy (I'm pretty sure of it) blah blah blah :blahb:

and now he's saying

"This talk about me and Smitty not getting on is garbage," he said.

:? :x

Also

They were the club that made me – Brian Smith got me to where I was.

exactly sorry but you don't just walk out on a club that made you who you are

Smells like a manager trying to get some positive coverage while Jamie's back in Oz, to try and leverage potential offeres from (any) NRL club. It says "Only a huge offer from current club St Helens would stop him returning", so you can tell that more than anything is what's at the bottom of this article appearing in print.

Money is the most important factor, and whoever is handling Jamie is just trying whatever he can to get the biggest bucks, in Oz or at St Helens. I guess that's what managers are paid for? Personally don't think there's anything in it to get too concerned about...

Very interesting indeed. I can't believe he's only 23  ,feels like he's been around for ages.

Not sure about this. If purely based on on-field peformance "yes". If based on his loyalty and grief he has caused the Parramatta Eels, I'd say "no".

There would need to be a very tight contract with all kinds of clauses. AND he would need to make up ALOT of ground with everyone affiliated with the Eels (Players, Coaching Staff, Fans)

1. McKinnon
2. Tahu
3. Lyon
4. B Smith
5. Grothe

the only way I would play him is if Tahu was willing to play on the wing again.

No we dont want you back jamie lyon, cant forget what you did to us.
Cant forget the pain you put brian through with your bloody lies etc etc.

Cant forget seeing you at the manly game holding up a manly shirt against your chest
Cant forget the money you took for playing 1 game, and a sh*thouse game at that

Cant forget how you just left your team coach and fans in the lurch, cant forget if it wasnt for you we probably wouldnt have lost tonga, so go to hell we dont want or need you.

and most of all we can't forget we have tahu and benny playing for us

also a young kid named brett delaney who wants nothing more than to play for the eels.

so go to buggery and take your bullsh*t apology with you

dont always trust what the media dish out. when lyon walked out, it was a massive story. We all know how much papers like the telegraph dish out bs and lies, especially in light of a hugh breaking story they can milk for months. So theres nothing to stop them adding in a 'quote' along the lines of a fallout with smithy, whether it was said or not. similarly, they could have twisted a few choice words to create this story.

Im more willing to believe that the situation wasnt as bad as the media and us fans made out at the time. Its more than likely (IMO) that the eels team and administration may have been a little angry and disgruntled at the time, but that is still far from the animosity that some fans feel. And obviously with these differing degrees of feeling, comes a different rate of forgiveness.

Although, some of the people on this forum who know players personally, and heard first hand stories, may take a different viewpoint on this.

The only thing I remember hearing from the players was the day that the Manly shirt was held up against his chest and he was smiling and laughing the picture was in the paper on Mad Monday.
The players had it up on the board and were throwing things at it, some were punching it as they walked past. They weren't saying much, it was the actions that spoke more than words

So - why didn't jamie step in and say something back then? - why did he let the media go nuts with stories if there was nothing to them? ..... yeah the media probably made it a bit bigger than it was but I think there was something there to begin with.

Ray Hadley is a [insert own expletive] but I am pretty sure he did have knowledge of some letter from jamie to the club which expressed some problem jamie had with smithy .... no one ever denied it - not fitzy, not smithy, not jamie .... he tried to blackmail Parramatta into letting him go clean - that was low.

offer him match payments

offer him f**k all imo

he would slot in a 5/8 very well, but looking at the problems he has caused, and the potential team disharmony, not to mention the fact that contracts mean nothing to this tool

the scales are balanced against him imo
