The try before Sammut was hooked was a Bill Harrigan special. Bill likes to make up his own rules, always has. Sammut was trapped in goal, his progress had been stopped and a tackle had been effected. It should have been a line dropout.

Jarrod Sammut dealt up 55 minutes of pure crap before being hooked. It's a long long time since I've seen a fullback made to look so woeful...

His confidence had already bottomed out. I think the coach taking him off helped him from going even lower.

I'm not sure if he's off-contract or not, but I reckon that game is pretty much a career killer for him. He'll never be the same again.

He will come back Bart, he is a VERY GOOD PLAYER. Unfortunately there were a few panthers who played injured and tired last night. Their coach did a Smithy and worked them up toooooo high causing the balloon to burst within the first 3 minutes of the game. It was all over after the 1st try. As his body grows stronger (and it will) Sammut will excel as a 7 or a 9 or 14 & even a 6. He is another Paul Taylor in the making..... a small tough and clever kid.

Please Eels Fans, no need to scorn, put down and laugh at opposing players. Show respect for all players in the NRL. It takes a lot of courage to play this game at this level.

What you give out will definitely come bouncing back in the images of your projections and that won't feel good will it being on the losing end of a thrashing down-the-line, particularly in a critical game leading up to the semi finals or even in the finals if not the GF.

Humility, compassion, grace, respect, curtesy are some of the many values (virtues of love) that will make this Eels club great and famous.

Fish Eel :)lol::lol::lol::lol: Yes, but none of the others ponce around the field like Sammut does. What a wanker.), wake up to yourself, give yourself an uppercut!

There has been no mention of Burt's opposite number... where was Gordon everytime Burt put in the chase?

*edit*, didn't read PG's post.

While we're bagging Panthers players, I thought I'd add a missing in action report on their number 6, Wade Graham. I hardly saw him having any input into the Panthers attempted attack, he was failing to link the ball effectively to Jennings. And it wasn't until Elliot hooked him (shortly after he hooked Sammut) that I even noticed he was playing...

But not as a 1, which is the point of discussion in this thread ;-)

why hook the guy if your getting flogged by 30 points ? at least he was having a go!
i think Elliot has a lot to answer for ,especially giving pritchard limited game time,
i think waterhouse was their best .

Just two comments:
1. Jarrad Sammut is not a fullback.
2. Matthew Elliott is not a coach.

Sammut's a great little player (not a full-back, though). I don't know anything about his ego - maybe that's why Elliott hooked him. He's dropped him before. I can't help thinking that under a decent coach, Sammut would really fire. (But not as a full-back.)
I can't stand Elliott. He's a media darling who just loves to talk to the cameras, to the radio. I'd like to get his smiling face and.........sorry.

Sammut won a lower grade Grand Final for the Panthers a couple of years ago with a brilliant individual try playing from fullback in the final seconds of the match. It was against Parramatta too, so I'm sure those here who remember this quite enjoyed his nightmare last night. He can do things like this but unfortunately this year seems to more often make mistakes. He's not scared to put his body on the line and for his size has good defence, but he's always going to have trouble as last line close to his own goal line.

He needs, I think, to bulk up a bit and also needs some help with his ball security and positional play. He tends to always look for the miracle play, rather than picking his time. Still, I'm sure he has a long first grade career ahead of him, although maybe not at No 1.

He's been copping it at the Panthers Interactive forum, its a long time since I've seen a bloke cop this sort of a lambasting (Paul Franze was the last one in 2005, and he finally hit some good form before leaving). Still, I have no doubt he will be in first grade next week. I don't think Gordon is a fullback either.

From a Panthers perspective the situation that lead to Frank Pritchard being benched for such a long time is of more concern.

I felt sorry for him. Alot of the unfortunate things to happen to him were bad luck and not because of lack of trying

A lot of things that happen to him happen because he has a f**ken ego the size of Sydney. He simpy refuses to play a team game, he went out there last nigh twith the match up vs jaryd hayne in his head, and yes he thinks he is that good. I have no sympathy for him, Elliott dragging him off was a very good move, it brought him down a peg or two and the bloke badly needs it so he can refocus on the things his side need him to focus on.
