Didn't Buderus win it when we ran dead last?

We came 9th i think.

But yeh, Mullen has been in our top 3 players in 95% of our wins. If he doesn't win it won't be because we didn't win enough games - it'll be because of someone like Inglis, Cronk or Thurston picking up votes in games they played like a busted arse.

Bedsy won it when we came 10th.

Joey came within 1 point of winning it the following year when we got the spoon, which would have been such a ridiculous achievement.

I think Cronk, JT, Carney and Mullen will be right up there, but my pick is Cherry-Evans. He was similar to JT in that he was there or thereabouts when voting went private and then had a great period where Manly went on a bit of a winning streak.

If JT wins I'm gonna sook for sure. Definitely not the best player this year.

Mullen reminds me of Locky more every week. Not surprised Bennett told him they have a similar skill set. A long long way to go before he can realistically be put in Locky's postcode. Being selected for NSW next year is a must as first step. If Daley is for real Mullo will be the first player he picks. He will kick Queensland into submission. Maloney can f### off and hopefully next weekend Mullo gets the chance to deliver that in spades to him.

Would be incredible to see Mullo give Daley a dose of reality by shitting on Maloney  . Furthermore, Tyrone outshining "The Myth".

Pearce goes alright when he has belief (see city country)

But his teammates said in player probe hes one of most self doubting guys ever and looks like just doesnt believe in himself when up against jt and cronk

basically I wanna say we have no chance against roosters even if we fluke one over the storm :0 (

If we beat Melbourne I am prepared to say we can go on and beat the Roosters too. Contain their forwards (no easy task mind you) and we can go to town out wide if we shift early. They are great at containing the middle but weaken when they are stretched from sideline to sideline, which is one of our strengths

I haven't been this pumped for a Knights game since........ well.... last week! But seriously, this is our best chance to beat Melbourne and have a real creak at the title for ages. You know when you just get that feeling that something special is going to happen?

I look through our line up and think we can go all the way.

Maybe like a dog that has been kicked up the arse one too many times, my tail is firmly between my legs fully expecting the usual reality check come saturday night.

I think we'll be competitive, i know we can beat them, but i just know deep down that melbourne at anything above 80% are too good for any effort we can muster.

Either melbourne play poorly or we make them play poorly.

I'm a bit the same was as RABK. I know we can win it, and I'm excited by that prospect... but I'm weary that the same bone crushing disappointment is most likely around the corner. Still, week 2 of the finals, pretty sweet to be here... it was a big deal to make it here and it'll be real massive if we get any further. Just a big performance against the Storm that really tests them would suffice.

Yeah I get all that, but magic happens and streaks come to an end.

The difference for me was last week, we were a different team to the one that was so inconsistent during the year.

I've drunk the Kool aid, I admit it, but I expect us to win on Sat night because we are playing like a team that wants and expects to win.

Melbourne are a great team with 3 star players but they are going the way of all great teams, they are getting older and the roster is getting thinner every year.

They arent the Melbourne of old, they look tired and are making mistakes which is un Melbourne like. They may lift for this game and beat us but they arent the jugganaut they once were.

There is something special about our team and whether it eventuates this year, they will do us proud.

Plus if there is a single player in the NRL that deserves a fairytale finish to his career, its Danny Buderus.

Knights to win on Sat night and set up a showdown next Sat against the Roosters.

Can I just add that on this corresponding Sat afternoon in 1997, we beat the Bears to make the ARL grandfinal and on the same Sat night in 2001 we beat Cronulla to make it into the 2001 grandfinal.

We can do this and if we climb Everest on Sat night, then nothing is out of the question.

That'll do me, Nuffy the forums most positive and hopeful poster. Worlds gone mad, maybe we might win.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how Mullen goes on Saturday. He's got arguably the best defense of a 5/8 in the comp. His long kicking game is the best in the comp also. His bullet passes are hitting the mark. His short kicking game has improved massively, plus he is starting to run the ball more.

Bring on Saturday!!

I think Nuffy is just stating what many of us want to believe. That the Storm won't be at the top forever and a day will come when Newcastle rises again. Perhaps that time is near now that Mullen has become the player we all knew he could be...

No doubt, but Nuffy is usually the one demanding we sack Bennett and half the roster after every loss. Very ironic he's the one to declare we'll beat melb in melb in sudden death footy.

Setting yourself up for a huge let down with that mindset, no matter what happens saturday this season has now been a success and turning point in our clubs history. If we win, you f**king beauty but if we don't - meh... bring on 2014. Massive, massive task this saturday night to stay within 10 points of melbourne let alone win it.
