Anyone see his interview on Sterlo the other night? He said he only moved to the halves at 16. He was a centre before that. Pretty incredible considering he was playing firstgrade as a half at 17/18. He really has a naturally gifted kicking game.

I thought the interviews on the knights site gives good insight into the mentality at the club. It also gives me hope and i know the clib are heading in the right direction.

Alot of people on this forum moved over here from the old forum on the official website. It was pretty common knowledge back then that Mullen was a centre in the lower grades. Roopy who was the lower grade afficanado maintained for years he shiuld go back to the centres.

From what i can remember of him in the lower grades (not heaps) he was a pretty wiz goal kicker. I only saw afew of his games but he could hit them from anywhere (I do remember him as the Aus-schoolboys kicker).

Im just surprised he's never had a go in firsts. Fuucking Matt Hilder was ahead of him.

This thread needs a name change.

'Messi' --> 'God' ---> 'Joey'

Mullen is slowing working his running game into his armory again. We only saw one good cutout pass from him today but I think he is slowly working that into his game again as well.

Mullen utilizing his running game, left to right cut out, kicking game and defense will make him a premier half in the game. How good is his defense?

He's going to be a better player having a reliable playmaker alongside him. I think Gower's presence will help him come out of his shell even farther.

For me, the best moment I saw last game from Mullen is when you saw that he wanted to throw the big left-to-right laser, but the defence rushed his outside men. You saw the cogs tick over in his head, and he decided to take the line on instead of throwing an intercept/hospital pass. Mullen has always had the skills, but in previous seasons it was the maturity to pull back and take the safe option when the miracle play wasn't on that was missing.

That little deft chip kick that pulled up in the in goal for Billy Slater, earning us a repeat set was great as well. Very smart play with the team in front and the game winding down.

He just seems to keep getting better and better and better this year. Chaos all around him form-wise from the rest of our squad... with blokes having good games here and there... but Mullo is just playing on a level beyond any of them at the moment, and I wish a few more blokes would follow his lead and start turning up like that week-in, week-out.

Such a class act, it's so good to see it from him... if he keeps playing like this, then he'll be very hard to ignore this time next year when rep selections come up. Hard for him to push Maloney at the moment given Maloney partners Peace, and their team is travelling much better than ours... but if Mullo keeps it up, he's very difficult to discount. Every touch on the ball he has at the moment is class.

One of the greatest things about Mullen is the fact that he'll never leave. He might but odds of that happeneing is so low. Hopefully he'll hit his prime next year and be the dominant half we've all been waiting for.

I don't know who has the better left foot. Messi or Mullen.

Is Mullen the best defensive half in the league? His defense on the fringes is almost Joey like.

I think he is finally becoming the half we all knew he would become. A better version of Soward and a little less awesome than Lockyer. :D

Gotta go with Messi, these numbers are RIDICULOUS. More goals with his left foot than the combined goals total of the top two goalscorers in England, Germany, Italy and France. That is insane.

But on topic Mullen has come on nicely. As someone who is not a Knights fan, from the outside looking in, I thought he would into an average player after Origin kind of stunted his confidence a bit, but he is proving me wrong.

I was watching the Melbourne game with a Storm supporting mate. At one stage he turned to me and said "I'd hate to see where you blokes would be without Mullen".

It's probably true.

After Sunday (where he was awarded 2 points) he's now second equal in the Dally M race with 14 points, 1 point behind Inglis.

Would be great to see him stay up there and give it a shake. Go Mullo!

If we have a half-decent finish to the year he'll go mighty close to winning it.

Shame he will never play origin again his only chance is for NSW to lose the series. Otherwise Maloney and Pearce have it forever

^ Big call to say he'll never play origin again. Injuries happen.

It's good to see him giving the Dally M a shake. Shows his form hasn't been overlooked in a poor performing side. It's actually pretty impressive considering he's playing in a non-top 8 side and he had a couple of games off due to injury.
