Im thinking the striker from leeds lol.......

Alex smith > kappa

Kansas where a side lucky to win 2 games a season till smith came. Now there a finals chance every year. He got 3 this weekend.

Alex Smith has been in the NFL for 10 years, and was shithouse up until 4 years ago.
He became a decent game manager, able to throw direct short passes. But he's nothing special. It's not just him that has made KC a better team, they improved in other areas as well.

You are judging Kap off one season. You have to be. Otherwise you'd have to take into account his two seasons prior to the last one - the two season where he took his team to an NFCCC and a Super Bowl. Sure he had a lot of help from the defence and the teams great running game, but he played very well in those years.

Last year Kap had to deal with an absolute pus o-line, a coaching staff that moved the gameplan away from his strengths, and two top receivers who seemed like they didn't want to be there (Crabtree and Vernon Davis).

He's not the best QB out there. He's not in the top 10. He does have faults. But he also has a massively high ceiling and the potential to reach it. He has been working in his game, and even after one round this year I can see improvement.

Also, you may have thought yesterday's game was terrible, but I saw a magnificent defensive display from the Niners and really enjoyed it. It was definitely scrappy, but you get that in week 1.

Hayne done enough imo, but if anyone else had those stats it wouldnt even get mentioned in the media, but as he is an Australian every yard he makes gets well documented.

I was shocked at that fumble, that stuff is his bread n butter.

Great being in CBD yesterday at Australia square watching the game. About 200 people were there watching the game on big tv's.

I work down the street from there, actually considered popping over to watch the game, but chose to stream it at my desk instead.

I work across the rd next to the station on George st, so easy for me to go too.
Great vibe actually, great seeing the interest it generated. I stopped by the TAB also as the game was on and it was packed of people just watchign the game.

It is great how 1 person can generate so much excitement.

They aren't good.
I'm not a fan.

But there are definitely much worse jerseys around the world than what SF were wearing yesterday.

I will openly admit that the bills jerseys from 2003 - 2010 were horrible as well, but the niners should never use those jerseys again lol

There were a bunch out there near the fountain packing around the outside TV's watching the Cowboys game on Monday too.

I quite like Australia Square, I'm on the other side though, on Spring Street near where that funky sculpture thing is.

Ron your thoughts on KAP?

I do not rate him-Yes he is young but this is his 4th year now. If he doens't improve i reckon San fran will start too look elsewhere. He is young and has a high ceiling but id have not in the top 20 qb's and prefer Smith if i had a team to manage this year.

i really think the niners dont play to his strengths, i think he has talent which was previously evident, but people arent utiliing riight.

I think someone like BB could get the best out of him, or chip

I'm not sure BB would. Kap is not a pocket passer. And he locks onto his target which let's the defence know. Not that kap really has great targets to throw to

Steelers have a few important players out. Niners should have a decent chance. I'm liking what I saw with kap last game. He's looking far better already than last year. There's a video showing him going through his progressions begore making a decision. He was never good at that previously

I watched the Steelers game last week (headset gate) and they didn't impress me. So unless the Patriots are so f**king good and the Vikings are so f**king bad, we're* in with a chance.

* yeah I'm a 49er fan now. :D

Anyone catch that new show on Showcase last night "Ballers" ?

Its about a retired NFL player (The Rock ) who goes into player management.

There was a scene where a player had been cut from his team for an indiscretion and was begging for a second chance "I'll do anything, anything to get back into the NFL"
They tell him he will have to play on Special Teams..."anything, anything but that !"

LOL
