Im thinking the striker from leeds lol.......
Alex smith > kappa
Kansas where a side lucky to win 2 games a season till smith came. Now there a finals chance every year. He got 3 this weekend.
Alex Smith has been in the NFL for 10 years, and was shithouse up until 4 years ago.
He became a decent game manager, able to throw direct short passes. But he's nothing special. It's not just him that has made KC a better team, they improved in other areas as well.
You are judging Kap off one season. You have to be. Otherwise you'd have to take into account his two seasons prior to the last one - the two season where he took his team to an NFCCC and a Super Bowl. Sure he had a lot of help from the defence and the teams great running game, but he played very well in those years.
Last year Kap had to deal with an absolute pus o-line, a coaching staff that moved the gameplan away from his strengths, and two top receivers who seemed like they didn't want to be there (Crabtree and Vernon Davis).
He's not the best QB out there. He's not in the top 10. He does have faults. But he also has a massively high ceiling and the potential to reach it. He has been working in his game, and even after one round this year I can see improvement.
Also, you may have thought yesterday's game was terrible, but I saw a magnificent defensive display from the Niners and really enjoyed it. It was definitely scrappy, but you get that in week 1.
