didn't the second statement only say they had not made him an offer?

if that is all it said then it does not mean they won't

"Team GWS wishes to clarify that, contrary to a number of recent media reports, it has not made any offer to Jarred (sic) Hayne," Team GWS said.

"Team GWS remains committed to providing opportunities for youth in Greater Western Sydney to represent their team in the AFL National Competition from 2012."

to me that doesn't mean they won't otherwise they would have said as much

Just to perpetuate the rumour, the Telecrap said this morning that Hayne cancelled his NFL tour to America so that he can "consider his future".

He might end up at Souths... His old man played there. He bought a house in the area. I saw Jarryd wearing a red shirt and green shorts the other day.

(I didn't really. Just thought it would be funny)

Haha! peekaboo!

I would like to announce that I recently signed Jarryd to my struggling D grade basketball team. This is an exclusive contract unfortunately

Maroubra is in the heart of Souths Jnrs territory YY.

Whoops that's true. My home is around there too when I am in Oz and everywhere I go I see south's people trying to sign me up.

I would take off my jacket and show my Parra jersey and then get chased down the street.

Only joking, I don't get chased down the street.

Former Eels general manager Andrew Hill at Rooty Hill ... he will be managing talent development for the new AFL team.Picture: ISABELLA LETTINI

FIRST it was former Manly Sea Eagles CEO Grant Mayer. Now Parramatta Eels general manager Andrew Hill has swapped codes to join the AFL in its push into the west.
So who’s next?
“The speculation (that) there is this hit list of rugby league players is very much just speculation,” said Hill, who will be manager for the newly-established Western Sydney AFL talent academies.
He helped set up a western Sydney league academy.
“My focus is looking at younger players of any sport (who) are going to show potential as the next superstar,” he said.
“We’re looking at trying to unearth the next Jarryd Hayne, but not trying to sign Hayne.”
Despite being the second rugby league administrator to join Team GWS in recent weeks, Hill wasn’t poached.
“Because of the size and the growth of AFL, as soon as they expressed the desire to set up a western Sydney team, I was always looking over the other side of the fence,” he said.
“Being involved with something brand new, where I can put my own stamp on the way in which things are done, is a very rare opportunity.”
He said his colleagues at Parramatta had “all been very positive” since he stepped down in September.
“I think the community of western Sydney love their sport and, whilst it will be a big challenge for Team GWS, I think with resources and the long-term vision that the AFL have for the region, I know that the community will embrace it,” he said.
Hill’s role will be to establish up to seven local centres, to feed into the central talent academy, spread across greater western Sydney.
