we'll make him royalty .... and then IF he decides to leave for some other team/code/whatever, do what all good parra fans do - turn on him and have a public be-heading

He doesn't need to leave to have fans turn on him, just one bad game will do it!

Hayne pretty much wins us the game last night and the abuse he was copping in my bay when returning one of the kicks in the second half last night was hilarious.......some people are just never pleased!

Such elegance. You're a shining light that illuminates the great future that your society has ahead of it when placed in such lovely hands as yours.

Actually, people who know me know that's not the case. Not a single thing that I say here is different from how I speak in real life. People on this very forum can tell you that I'm as much of an obnoxious wanker in real life as I am here.

Keep trying, boy, because you're not even close to landing a blow at this stage.

Ridiculous thread.

How long did Thornett play for us and how long was he a consistent performer?

HaHa plays a half a season of decent football (with many lapses throughout that half a season) and all of a sudden everyone wants to blow her.

This is a perfect illustration of ridiculously imbecilic the vast majority of the population are.

You want her dubbed the Princess of Parra because we've won 5 games in a row? This is such a ridiculous notion that it boggles my mind. Wait 5-10 years and see how consistent HaHa has been and then maybe think about putting her up with the likes of Thornett.

All your arguments against Hayne are gradually falling apart - sentence by sentence, word by word.

Hayne is certainly the form player of the NRL, but seriously he's knocked up maybe a dozen "brilliant" games in is career so far. Premature to compare him to Thornett etc. TBH Tim Smith has probably racked up the same amount of dominant performances in his career with us and comparing him to Sterlo would be lunacy.

Bump this thread this time next year and we can track how he's been going.

It's a positive change from the 80's tripe that has become norm... imho

80's tripe? When was the last time we won the comp?

Seriously, if the internet were around in the 60's we would all be on here saying how good Thornett was. If it were the 70's, may be we would be talking about Mighty Mick. The 80's, Sterlo or Bert. The 90's Eparame Navale (yeah sorry, I struggle with the 90's, as did Parra! He scored 3 tries v's Wests round 15 1997.) Now the 00's we talk about Hayne.

You cant compare now with then - the rules are different for starters.

Just be happy that our guys are playing as a team, and we are winning games. After all there is no "I" in team, and Hayne still needs the input of the rest of the team to perform.

Those were the same guys that were trying to win games, when Hayne wasnt in form. From memory, when we lost games, he wasnt blamed for being the only one on the field that lost us the games?

Im not an 80's groupie (still a HUGE U2 fan though:D), Im a Parramatta supporter - always have been, always will be (im still struggling with the 90's:lol:). Dont try to compare, or down play our history/memories.

I dont agree with HJ necessarily, however, I do see his point, and I think some people should be a bit more objective in their views, rather than attack someone, just because their view is different.

Warren Smith has it right, Jarryd is a freak (at the moment), lets just hope that he can keep it up - and the rest of the team are recognised for the effort that they are making to help him.

Can't compare different eras played under different conditions and I don't think you can compare careers particularly when one hasn't even finished yet.

All Im saying is that there is a remarkable similarity between our current side and our 1964 side. Our current full-back is having the same impact on the team as our 1964 full-back had. In 1964 we won six and drew one during our march to the finals (after under-achieving in previous years). This current team has won five in a row in its march toward the finals.
Sounds a bit similar, doesnt it? Unlike people like H.J, I was actually around in the sixties and I saw Thornett play - so Im slightly more informed in my comments. Thornett was amazing. Better defensively than Hayne, perhaps; fantastic under the high ball and a master at chiming into the back-line at just the right time to ignite the attack. But Thornett at his best and Hayne at his best are very comparable. Hayne in attack is better than Thornett was. And Thornett had a better team around him than Hayne has - Dick Thornett, Brain Hambley, Ron Lynch, Barry Rushworth all played for Australia, and then there was Bobby Bugden, the ex-saints halfback who was quite a bit better than our current halves. I think that IF Hayne keeps this form up, he could be rightly considered as better (just) than Ken Thornett. I thought this might have been an interesting topic for discussion, but I guess we just arent up to it are we, H.J?
