The reason you can't headbut in the UFC is because Politicians and soccer moms were complaining too much, and the UFC made a business decision to sanitize their sport.

Headbutting was legal up until UFC 15 and no, 9 times out of 10 the fight wasn't over with a headbutt. Knee strikes will eventually be outlawed in the UFC also, so I don't see your point.

Plenty of MMA fans would love to see UFC under Vale Tudo type rules, once more.

There's nothing wrong with a headbutt. It's no more a cause for moral outrage than a punch.

When i said 9 outta 10 times i didnt mean in a UFC fight between two proffessional fighters who are wearing mouthguards and train to learn to deal with with all kinds of strikes. I was talking about street fights and brawls. The UFC thing i just chucked in at the end.

Your forehead/skull is a lot f**king thicker and harder then your knuckles, trust me. If someone landed a half decent headbutt with their forehead driving straight into there nose cheek area it wouldnt be hard to break the jaw, nose and cheekbones with one strike. Good f**king luck trying to accomplish that with one punch, unless its an absolutely wild haymaker.

Yeah, let's allow headbutts. The sight of a few noses spread across faces will do wonders for recruiting youngsters into the game. Mum's will be lining up four deep to sign 'em up.

I love how precious Hayne fanboys get when his arrogance and hypocritical comments get made...

Rather than argue the point, they deflect the incident to other issues - see Loudstrat's comment about Bulldogs Salary Carp, or the fact that the Eels won the game in 2009... This isn't the issue is it?

Hayne was whinging about getting kneed - which he has done previously without punishment... He has also headbutted players twice - even commenting "I got away with one before"... He also got away with elbowing defenceless player on the ground...

He is a good player (over-rated in my opinion but still good), but he is a dirty player who has not right to then complain about this incident.

seriously anyone calling haynes headbutts a proper headbutt is kidding. all that happened was they were up in each others faces and he gave slater a nudge. if he headbutted him theyd of both been on the ground in absolute pain (trust me iv headbutted before).

Hayne just made contact with slaters head, he did not attempt to hurt him. It was a stupid incident and not one that was any threat to any player.

Hayne is a great player and an even better sport. NRL needs more playersl ike him and not the people out there giving us a bad name

He is a diver (remember before his Bulldog head butt he was staying down until he realised we wasn't getting a penalty), a thug and a hypocrite... Every time he does these things he gives the game a bad name.

It's good to know you advocate 'intent' now for any charges... For every high tackle, the defence is now 'I didn't intend to hurt' and you get off scott free.

Grow up knobjockey. You lot are saying it's open season when kneeing Hayne because he was let off for something back in 2009, and other things he was charged for.

As for elbowing defenceless players - where did that crap come from? The same defunct brain cell that ignores some twat nuffy trying to take Hayne out every game?

Seriously, if ever the juduciary ruled that it is open season on players because of past incidents then the game would be dead quicker than you can say "Coffs Harbour".

He received more punishment than Smith got.
Hayne was charged and he pleaded guilty.
He received no suspension but got carry-over points.
Smith just got a "She'll be right. It's Origin".

Ah, you mean when he stayed on the ground for all of 3 seconds after he was hit across the jaw with Corey Payne's forearm?

The headbutt I can agree with you, but saying he's a bad sport because he stayed down after that hit is a bit rich.

Mate if you want to argue from that perspective don't come complaining to me in 2050 when these all-knowing Mum's have forced contact sports off day time television.

If you want to pander to some soccer Mums you'll destroy the very fabric of the game.

For the record I don't think headbutting or even standard fighting should be allowed, I just don't see much of a difference and don't think the punishment should be so severe as to eradicate the old skool from the game completely.
