A hard worker would make a lot of tackles at a decent efficiency as well as making a lot of runs. This year he played 10 games and made 47 tackles (total!!) at a shitty 78% tackle efficiency. He averaged 121m which is ok. This, plus his stupidity is not really the kind of player you want when the ‘shit hits the fan’ and ‘you can’t win without’ . Has a winning percentage of 49%.

He is fine I reckon if he was your worse player in the backline. Same goes for Russel. They'd be ok in say Brisbane's backline

You do realise he was playing in a really shite team this season and could only do what the opportunities provided him?

Mate, all I am saying is that Simmonson is a hard enough worker for a winger and if we had more players who were willing to give it a go as much as he does, then we would be in a better position on the ladder the last 2 years.

Definitely need to take into account the position he plays - he isnt in the middle making or attempting 50+ tackles per game - he is out wide and wouldn't need to make that many tackles unless it was in a nightmare. And winning % is irrelevant as he isnt a one-man team, although his is better than our overall team since he got here.

Here's a comparision with Saab (random selection) over the last 3 years. Who would you prefer?

Games PlayedTackles/AttemptedTackle EfficiencyAvg. Run Metres
Simonsson50363/43783%125 pg
Saab52279/34281%117 pg

I like Super simmonson he can't be taking up that much of the cap he needs to only train as a winger and give those centre dreams away..

Neither of them when the going gets tough.

Interesting how many more tackles Simo makes.

That's his biggest weakness. Stupidity.

No, you shifted the definition of hard working (as per the article quoted) to hard assed.
Simmonson for all his faults is definitely hard working and given he played most of his last game with a f**ked ACL, he would nearly fit into the hard assed category as well.
I'd say we want hard workers more than hard merkins running around trying to smash merkins and start fights.

He played nine of those games on the wing. How many tackles should he have made ffs? In his one game at centre he made 13 tackles and missed one (92%).
This, plus his stupidity is not really the kind of player you want when the ‘shit hits the fan’ and ‘you can’t win without’ . Has a winning percentage of 49%.
His win rate is 50% plus/minus one win. It's average.
