LOL @ I Bleed Monthly. What a Johnny-come-lately.

I hope Smithy doesn't get locked up. Great player, great human being.

Andrew Johns said last year that he was a "great tourist" with a grin.

Lmao. I bleed monthly. Well played sir.

"Rugby League star"

I've never heard of this f**ker until now

are you one of those genius' that are saying how good it is that Kanye West is helping out that old bloke McCartney ? .....

On a more informed note, I think I disliked most of the teams that Smith played for, but he was still one of my favourites to watch play. One of the last great old style footballers.

Is this the Jason smith whos brother is Darren smith???

As far as I know Jason Smith & Darren Smith are brothers.

Darren was a very good player also,I think, played SOO.Very reliable type.

Jason was a very classy ball player.I loved him as a player.Very smart.

From memory he was a lazy trainer,smoked,drank--had all the vices;but a champion RL player.
The cocaine thing is just another vice!!!

Some footage of Jason SMITH.

He did most things off the field that some[probably many] coaches would abhor these days.

But he was so damn good that he was always well sought after.

He reminded me a bit of Wally LEWIS.Wally,of course, was more dedicated which was the difference between the two.

As much as i loved watching smithy play for us, there will always be that bitter thought that we were supposedly a good chance at Thurston up until we signed him.

yep shame about Smithy. has really tarnished every thing he achieved in footy. Still there are a few who have done that. Paul Heywood - drugs (Newtown) Eric Grothe Snr, insurance fraud, Jon Elias guns, Brian Johnston, guns ...and plenty of more recent ones

Jason Smith was awarded the AUSTRALIA SPORT'S MEDAL in 2000[along with 18,000 others]for his contribution to Aust's international standing in RL.
He also played in the SOO Greats Game in 2011 to raise money for flood victims.
He is also held in high regard by the tobacco industry for his contribution over many, many years.
If he does in fact land in the slammer his fabulous ball playing skills should stand him in good stead!!!
