If Sullivan needed an attitude adjustment then the Tigers would have given it to him , add in been coached by Bennett then it would be his s##t or get off the pot time.
Hewi don’t you think we should have invested time in Bud rather then keeping that useless Hunt who again did nothing in 24 just like the previous six years?
Bud had enough of Hunts ball hogging and controlling play, hence why he wanted out.
We needed to flick Hunt who wanted out and put time in Bud
it was a no brainer at the time and by year end the f**k up was played out in the media
Lets see what happens under Bennet and we can assess the difference in coaches

Oh well. Fair enough if you say so. Bit dramatic, but fair enough.

We move on.

The Saints invested heavily in Amone, Sullivan, and Sloan. They were billed to be the future of our club each being on contracts valued around 500k. We could have paid 300k each and spent a bot 300k a year (from club funds) employing mentors for these players.

Bud didn’t want to be there probably because of Hunt. He has done nothing at the Tigers to prove he was worth keeping . Maybe Bennett will turn him into a champion only time will tell.

I thought Flanno didnt want an expensive backup and pushed him. Personally I thought that was one of a few errors by Flanno, but clearly we needed leadership, and he “hoped“ that hunt would give that.
maybe I thought too highly of bud, but again I wish him all the best. But we have. Ove’s elsewhere as he has

Bud Sullivan certainly has some footy about him and might've made a decent career for himself in the Red V. Unfortunately in that pivotal 2023 season for us he was injured just a little too often. For his career development a big money deal at the wooden spoon club with a rookie coach was the worst possible option - way too much pressure - but how could a kid refuse that kind of money? As a depth player at Souths he might get things back on the rails again... but he must rue the day he left us. With Hunt gone he'd have been in a prime position to be the main man here on a regular basis

That is so true, and then Hook came in and really stuffed things up with Hunt. Hunt should have been one of the mentors but after a year Flanno realised how poor this guy is as a mentor and capt. We will never know how good the 3 Saints juniors would have turned out unfortunately. All that is to blame is the Saints BOD for letting it happen.

Bennett isn't a stupid man. Makes me kind of regret we didn't get him back. But he probs needed a fresh start

Agreed, a bot would have performed better than all 3

Which young player improved under Hook? Those players were also part of the covid affected years. I can see a few 'late' bloomers from that age group. Bennett knows how to handle indigenous players, emotionally responsive players & how to develop players. Honestly, a no brainer move for Bud. I think it would be a win/win for him, still get $$$ & for the first time in his nrl career, a proper coach. I've always been impressed by Bud's kicking game, it's just injuries & footy IQ where ne needs help. He would be no worse a defender than half of the current halves playing NRL.
