Just referring back to the issue wityh Izzy, how can the auditor determine that a player can be paid less than what he was earning previously and it is OK. He put some ridiculous value on a player that hadn't played for 2 years, and the player was lost to the code when he should have been used as a drawcasrd.

Then again it wasnt the Roosters or the Dogs, the whole auditor thing os flawed if rules are made up as he sees fit.
Yes, that stunk on two fronts. The $400k was way too high - I cannot even remember Schubert demanding a player consume more of a clubs cap that he was contracted for - even if that player had 5 contracts! Then they raised the cap above that value anyway. Parra and Folau were screwed.

The salary cap was sorted out the day Folau accepted the Union deal. Obviously he was talking to union before that day. Make of that what you will, but his denial of his Parra intent was bullsh*t, and we learned a lot about him by the way he handled the matter.

All including Parramatta themselves have publicly stated that the whole cap thing was not an issue in Izzy leaving, all the Cap stuff had been resolved and they had made him an offer, he just back doored Parra something rotten.

How this relates to Mick Jennings, is anyone's guess as they don't seem to have any similarities whatsoever.

Im amazed that some think that Mick should just "take less money" and be done with it however.

If he wants out why should Penrith fork out to make sure he is getting paid the same?? He signed a contract that Penrith are prepared to honour, its him that will be askong for a release.

Depends on what you believe, I don't believe he wants "out". I reckon its Penrith that want him out. Ive never seen anything about him wanting a "release".

Well Gould recently in the SMH said specifically that Penrith have not shopped him around at all and have not told him he is not wanted, it is Micks Manager negotiating deals with other clubs, so i believe that.

I'd say Penrith would be happy to grant Mick a release for the right price. But why would we release him and still pay him a significant amount of his contract?? The whole benefit of releasing him for us is that it frees up cap space.

If Mick is the one looking to get out of his contract he should be the one to take a hit financially, if that is required.

Seems hard to believe that anyone on a $600K contract would ask for a release, knowing that that is about 30 to 40% higher than there market value, and that they would have to take a pay cut to go elsewhere.

If so Mick Jennings should be trumpeted as a hero in Penrith for falling on his sword for the good of the club.

I think Gould is playing ducks and drakes to make himself look good (if he indeed did say that)

He did say that, the story is in this thread somewhere. He said clubs have been approaching Micks manager expressing interest. If thats a lie you would think Mick, or his manager, or the Roosters would of denied it, no?

How do you know what Mick thinks he is worth? lol, he might think he is worth more.

Obviously either Jennings and Penrith mutually agree to end the contract - and he cops whatever is on offer elsewhere, or they dont - and he gets his contract money.

The NRL calender year starts on the 1st of November...
Jeninngs would have been paid 3 months salary by Penrith already for 2013.
There is no golden handshake...if he is on 600K he has already been paid the 150K.

He might, but you would think his manager (who is obviously smart as he negoitated that massive contract) would know otherwise, and would be savvy enough to not want to lose commision on a reduced salary.

Jennings' manager benefited from the unbelievable idiocy of our previous administration. I don't think his intelligence was as big a deciding factor as it might initially seem. I see your point though. Jennings won't go anywhere on less money. But then Morley makes a good point. Would be frustrating to have paid him just to have an off season, though.

I can't see why there is so much hype about Jennings, he is a good player nothing more. He is quick with out being blinding, he can tackle but he won't scare anyone, he can pass, but not in any way shape or up there with the great centres who have played the game. He can't kick, he is not an amazing stepper. He should get down on his knees every day and thank someone for being so dumb to have paid him so much money.
