i never understand why penrith dont move jennings to wing. he is so fast and i have always played int eams with teh fastest man on the wing cause if you get the overlap then they can just sprint down the sideline and noone to catch him. if he is in centre its harder to make breaks and get into space

Because he is capable of stepping through and breaking the line, and in theory he should get more opportunities to do this from centre, rather than just waiting for an overlap on the wing. He would probably be wasted on the wing, but he hardly sees enough ball or gets enough opportunities now so he's probably being wasted in the centres too.

Our wingers are good enough. I'm all for keeping him in the centres and getting a halves combination that gets the ball to him more often in better circumstances.

jennings is a great centre. perhaps even the best of centres. why move such a great centre?

Jennings, Fittler and Brad Izzard are Penriths best ever centres, all for different reasons.

Yeah he's seriously not getting enough ball as it is. The only way he gets the ball is when he goes looking for it and he's stuck in the middle of the park where there's nothing on.

We need a quality half who can get nice long passes to Jennings and Gordon (assuming he's our other centre) so that they can carve up with some space provided.

Just look how much better Michael Jennings was for the NRL All Stars, or the Australian team last year when he had a decent halves pairing feeding him the ball. He was the most dangerous player on the field because his halves allowed him to be.

Michael Gordon has shown just how dangerous he can be since being moved to fullback, and his destruction came from opposition kicks and dummy half runs... he's one of our most damaging players and our halves do absolutely nothing to get him the ball. As a winger he only ever got the ball from dummy half runs or hitups.

There's no way we can win a competition with Luke Walsh at halfback. He can't tackle and his ball playing skills are pretty weak aswell. Wade Graham needed more time in the #7 and to be allowed to run the show himself. He has the passing game we need.

Jennings is already above Girds? I dont think so, not yet. He needs to be more consistent imo before he gets ranked above Girdler.

Maybe Penrith should consider giving him a crack at five eighth, He will get the ball more and could be another Campbell. We really need new halves we cannot win the premiership with Walsh and Burns, Worst Halves Pairing to ever win the comp is probably Sherwin and Anasta and they are miles better then Penrith's current pair.

Also Girdler's is Penrith's greatest centre, Fittler may have looked awesome running off of a Prime Alexander, But would he have been more successful running off of Gavin Clinch, Steve Carter and Matt Rodwell like Girds had to ?

Girdler scored over 100 tries for Penrith running off vastly inferior halves, If he ever had a quality player to run off like Alexander who knows. Look at what he did in Origin when he got to run off Fittler,Johns and Kimmorley.

I could live with it. Walsh does all the kicking and need a runnings 5/8th so possibly.

People love Girds because he was a pretty boy. If Fittler stayed in the centres, he would have been the greatest centre of all time. His downfall was that he also possessed a great kicking and passing game and had to move in closer to the action. I'm afraid Girds runs a close 4th in the pecking order in my list.

Have to agree with Fibro. Fittler would be in the top 5 centers of the modern era. Izzard in the top 20. Girds spent quite a few years with Brandy in the team, he was the intercept king & had a great flick pass but not as dynamic as Freddy or Brad. I am not sure about where Jennings fits in the order, he still has a long career ahead so who knows what he could achieve. Hopefully we can conjour up the halves that can unleash him.

He'll see less ball on the wing and be less effective. There's no point in fixing something that's not broken.

Girds did have a turn of pace and the ability to get on the outside of his man. He did have the Matt Gidley flick pass down to a tee and was a wonderful goal kicker, but in terms of being able to create opportunities out of nothing, as I said, in my boos he runs a close 4th behind Fittler, Jennings and Izzard. Sorry to all you Girds fans out there. Jennings is still only 22 and fingers crossed for no serious injuries, he could well be the best of the lot.
