I don't recall any mascots for the Western Reds, personally. I was at every Reds home game in 1995 and a couple in 1996. Can't say I remember seeing one.

The mascot was obviously a red kangaroo

Yes. The Kangaroos wore it. On Kangaroo Tours of years gone by, they would play Great Britain in 3 tests, but mid week between tests they would play, using players not getting a run in the tests, the English clubs. It's those games that they would wear the different Aussie jersey. I'm sure it won't be long before we see a heritage jersey release of the white Umbro jersey. Unless I missed it already..!

So no, the Kangaroos didnt wear it. Those midweek games were the Emus and were not the Kangaroos.

Their emblem was, yes. If they did have a mascot, IE: a dude in a suit, then you would think it was a red kangaroo. I just don't recall ever seeing one.

Fair call. I was 14 in 1995, and after attending all home games that year, Dad and I only attended a couple of games in 1996 due to our 'f**k SuperLeague' stance and attended zero Reds games in 1997. There may well have been a dude in a red kangaroo suit, but I either never saw it or just don't remember it.
