Woy Woy has revealed its strategy for avoiding the wooden spoon - a partnership with the Balmain Ryde Eastwood Tigers. The Rooster's team to play Cabramatta has 6 players from the BRET squad - Steve Mowbray, Mark Luland, Luke O'Callaghan, Leigh Bowman, Justin Bishop and Ranald Shultz. John Nash, who played with the Tigers last year, is also in the team.

The roosters had more than 70 scored against them 4 times last year so this arrangement will improve prospects providing it does not degenerate like with the Balmain's arrangement with RE did in the second half of last year.

Newtown has also benefited from the arrangement with the Sharks. with only 5 or 6 contracted players required for P/L, the Jets have been able to name a side to play Wenty that includes Hamilton Hughes, Ben Cook, Andy Le Breton, Anthony Farah, Adam Bennett, Thomas Gemmell, David Buckley and Glen Sedwell. IMO this is the strongest side the Jets have named for 3 seasons.

The competition is enhanced when the bottom sides are competitive.

The two newcomers face tough assignments with Belrose at home to The Entrance and Asquith, with Willie Bishop at fullback travelling to the mountains tonight to take on Windsor. The Wolves centres Mark Butler and Daniel Harris will have the luxury of feeding off the opportunities created by the electric half pairing of Craig Trindall and Darren Baker.

The Bulls have the bye and the Erina/Ourimbah game has been deferred to the spare weekend.

bloody hell shultz will tear it up in JBC - he's one of the more talented players in the premier league squad.

Sheens needs to get Robbie Farah back in first grade asap 'cause thats just a waste of talent.

I also didn't realise we released Nashy - a shame he was always one of my favourites, not really likely to go much further but exciting to watch, he should score a heap of trys.

Windsor beat Asquith 31-22 with Mark Butler getting a hat trick. It was tit for tat as the Wolves led 20-16 well into the second half until 2 tries in 3 minutes wrapped it up.

Dont rely on Big League - Asquith had about 6 changes with Retimana, Ngawini and Gerrard from North Sydney all getting a run for Asquith.

I'm happy that Windsor beat Asquith but no much about Butler getting a hat-trick. He's a decent footy player but a d*ckhead as a person.

Butler was very quietly spoken in the man of the match interview on Hawkesbury Radio... perhaps he has had a traumatic experience in the past... with a billiard ball??

I wouldn't have touched him if it wasn't for his crude behaviour. Hopefully he may have learned something from the experience...... but I doubt it

Thanks for the report Nfed. Its a shame Asquith lost but good to hear a few Bears get a run.

Belose were very unlucky to have a draw against the entrance.........Entrance scored a try in the dying seconds to draw even......Belrose were by far the better team, one worry for belrose is the season ending injury to former North Sydney Bears player Shawn Townsend

Newtown were strong except for the early part of the second stanza when a lapse let Wenty back into the game.
