I look forward to the day when we have a English soccer style system with relegation and promotion. I see this as a good way of increasing interest in the lower "divisions" or comps. Oh and for the record I want a rugby league channel too. FFS they have fox footy for AFL.

Did anyone else watch the match at 5pm today. It was the extended highlights of Newtown vs. Belrose at Henson Park.

I thought the coverage was pretty good. They were using 2 or 3 cameras.

The commentator was David Tapp with comments from Peter Mulholland. I thought their knowledge of most of the players was pretty good, except they kept calling Richie Parker as "Robbie".

I will watch again next week when they show Asquith vs. the Entrance.

I'd much rather see PL shown and i think they could do a really good job with it.

I watched the Qld Cup and was about to switch the telly off when the JBC came on. A pleasant surprise. The game probably wasn't the best and the production is a little amateurish compared to the ABC's Qld Cup game but with only three cameras on a wet day it was still pretty good. I'd like to email Fox and say thanks for the coverage and I think anyone else that watched it should too. They said it will be on at 4pm next week.

I watched the game on Fox and thought it was a pretty ordinary coverage. None the less though, it's better than no coverage.

Camera work not the best - and the clubs paid for that!

Better than no coverage at all.

We were lucky that we have a home game. I feel for Belrose. They paid as much as we did but they will get less coverage as they will not get a home game broadcast. It's a silly system to make clubs pay.

Didn't realise the clubs were paying for the coverage. Still that's okay. It might pay off in the end. Although not every club will get a game this year hopefully it'll continue next year and beyond and all clubs will see the benefit.

The games are filmed and the coverage added later, plenty of errors in spelling but still good to watch.

Please visit the NRL thread for the TV coverage poll which is part of a detailed outline on why PL whould be covered.

Sports paying providers to televise them isn't something new, club Rugby in NSW and Queensland both pay the ABC for airtime, but at least in regards to the Jim Beam Cup they are only paying production costs not airtime costs plus Fox have said they will underwrite the coverage in 2007 if they consider the viewing figures for the remainder of 06 reasonable enough.

The advantage as well for Jim Beam Cup is even if Fox don't start to underwrite the costs of the competition, there is a good chance each club will be able to increase their sponsorship dollars off the back of the regular coverage. A lot of general RL fans will watch JBC on TV, and whilst the time isn't the best (6pm onwards would near double the audience), it still is better scheduled than say the repeat of the Queensland Cup.

The difference between the JBC clubs and the NSWRU coverage is that the latter is more cashed up to pay for coverage. Administrators are better able to pay for TV coverage than the clubs. This should be attached to the naming rights sponsorship of the competition.

With Le BRETON and VIAL apparently doubling up after that loss to belrose shows what quality they are as players considering they came for the side that lost beam to beat Prem/leauge KNIGHTS who are in form !!!!

Well I think its GREAT that JBC is being Televised!
Its all Action in JBC and its good for the NSW communities as this is the heart of most of our communities as the majority of these clubs is where it all starts. So you'll find from under 6's up, family and friends, and the community do come out to support their JBC side and are static to be able to watch this on screen etc... Windsor JBC usually attracts a homegame crowd of up to 2000. Then there's Cabramatta who has been attracting massive home crowds of over 1000. Sydney Bulls and Wentworthville also has had consistent huge crowds too.

I think NSW should be promoting NSW R/League more, so I also do agree about PL not being Televised. PL, Jim Beam and Jersey Flegg....maybe Arrive Alive Cup too... I feel that they do televise alot of International games besides league that does not involve Australia as a whole.... It would be nice to see alot more of our very own home breds where we would encourage educate and support them all the way!
So many people especially our growing young players who don't even know what Premier League is?! (believe it or not), same as Jim Beam and Jersey Flegg etc... They only know about NRL and playing A Grade for their clubs and hoping to get noticed one day.

Anyways, I'am definitely tuning in every Wednesday night on Fox2 to watch the JBC Action!
I follow Cabramatta 2BLUES! They also are recovering physically and emotionally from last weekends sad tragedy and I'd like to see them back on the field and pick up where they left off. Good Luck Boys!

Jonnelle please define huge crowd. I believ that Windsor attracts crowds over 1000 when played after the junior league but as stand alone I have seen about 500 on a lovely little oval. They do also count those in the club who watch for free.

Wenty crowds are ok when also played after the juniors but no more than 150. The Bulls when I have seen them play have about 70-100 people unless they hide them unless you count the big mouth who is there and sounds as loud as 100 people. A mate of mine who does watch them play at home regularly says its closer to 50. Windsor crowds are the biggest but not as a stand alone game but still the largest of all clubs and daylight is second.

The crowds for JBC certainly could not be described as "huge" just as they couldn't for the old Metropolitan Cup. This level of football will always struggle for interest and attendances. It will be interesting to see if Foxtel coverage makes a difference.

JBC clubs will always get larger attendances when they play their games after a day of Junior football as a 'curain-raiser'. I think it's a good thing.

Belrose were certainly doing this at the beginning (even had cheerleaders and everything). Playing the games after the junior football has the potential to make these games a great community event and gets everyone involved in a day of football. Good for the clubs, good for the game.

I saw the cameras taking crowd shots during our PL game last Saturday to splice in with the coverage of the JBC game.

Great counting, Newtown and Belrose I noticed don't have much support this year. Belrose usually have over 200x at their home games. Come to Cabramatta homegrounds, there has been a few games with no other games prior which naturally has huge crowds. Likewise with Wentworthville. As for Windsor losing some great players and have been up and down this last half have lost their crowd numbers. But every Windsor home game was always JAMMED PACKED!
Clubs competing in JBC represents their city and area surroundings, so naturally players from these clubs and family and friends would want to stay and support the JBC.

Always in these forums for too long I see alot of criticism towards JBC. Go deal with your own PL problems and try to fix it. Forever whinging about JBC. One comment I read a year back was JBC getting the glossier and colourful pages on Big League Book, now for crying out loud about JBC being on FOX2?!!!! It's so amusing:roll:
Clubs competing in the JBC have the money to be able to run such a competition. And so good for them, trialling out different avenues. Its all good sports and it involves the communities and the fast and growing young guns. Jim Beam Cup is great for Sydney and its fast growing communitys, I believe its only going to get bigger! ;-)
