See the ilittle note in todays Telegraph? P58 Maingame Confidential by Josh Massoud.

Marshalling a 5/8- West Tigers are on the look out for a new halves partner for Benji Marshall, with current 5/8 Morris believed to be packing his bags for England. Insiders have revealed Morris recently landed a deal in the ESL. The Tigers dont have much room under their 2010 cap, especially with Liam Fulton returning....

Well, no reason why WT should look too far- Moltzen to 5/8 and Gallant into fullback.

Do it now- if he is going, put Morris on to interchange and let the others settle in to working together. No reason to keep him in the main lineup if he is going- especially if we are not going to be in the final 8 which looks likely.

Seriously? Moltzen is over-rated at the club, and even they don't see him as a future half. Jebus...

How hard is it to sign someone who is actually good.

Westie- I dont mind if they try some of the others we have- but WT have options to try before they go on to market to get someones signature.

If there are limited funds (lord knows how they have managed that) they (WT) have to be very specific in what positions to target for recruitment. I just dont think 5/8 is one yet and my main point is if Morris is going- try some of the others this season before we go and try to buy someone.

The question is- is our 2009 season shot or not? I think so, at best very iffy for 8th spot at season end. If we are dead men walking for this season, then shift Morris to interchange and try the others. Dont wait until trials games etc. We need to know early whether we need to buy a 5/8 or not.

BTW- wasnt Fulton sold to the Giants as a 5/8 to learn the trade? How has he gone? Any one know? Maybe there's the answer.

I agree with Westie.

You have a decent half in Josh Lewis, give him some game time, he'll come good real quick, move marshall to five-eighth. Lewis to halfback. If he can get half a season under his belt there this year, he'll be sweet in no time

I dont disagree with shifting Marshall back to 5/8 as one of the options to consider BUT wouldnt that mean Teflon Tim changing his spots and actually backing down? Then again if Teflon is going at end of this seaosn maybe he should not have a say..................

Theres a statement on the Tigers website:

MORRIS DENIES ENGLAND REPORTS

Friday, May 22, 2009
Wests Tigers five-eighth John Morris has denied reports he has signed a contract to play in England.
The Daily Telegraph today reported Wests Tigers would be looking for a new five-eighth to partner half-back Benji Marshall as Morris had already secured a deal for next season to play in the English Super League.
“The report could not be any further from the truth,’’ Morris said.
“I am very happy at Wests Tigers and the club has been great to me.
“It is disappointing to read that news because my intentions are to stay with the Wests Tigers.’’

Dunno- its a strange rumour to circulate at this stage if there is nothing to it.

What Morris wants and what he gets is another question. I suppose it depends on WT are prepared to offer him and where they're prepared to play him.

For mine 2 cents - I still dont mond if he re-signs but it is only as an interchange option due to his versatility and defensive qualities and probably on less money (no idea on what he is being paid but I assume it is a bit as he is holding down a specialist position).

And the kick dead. And the over-call of marshall when he dropped it. Why did he over-call when brisbane had us easily covered that side. Or the head high that got them down the field for the lockyer try. Or not finding the in goal from 5m with about 6 minutes left.

He is to halves what the nation of saudi arabia is to good pork butchers
