I think Morris will go. However if he does well at 6 this year he may stay. We really haven't had a good 5/8th since the 2001 model Micky B.

2005 has only just started are your already thinking who will be playing elsewhere in 2006.

If Morris goes back to the Knights he will only play off the bench. Gidley will play 5/8, Johns 1/2 and Buderus hooker. I would like to see him stay but if other players become available then the money saved on Morris could buy a top 5/8 or hooker (say Orford???)

I don't think John Morris would be re-signed by Newcastle unless Michael Ennis doesn't play to the club's expectations. Who knows, he could be re-signed. Just let things be and wait till June 30 I guess.

I'd say, given the fact that Ennis is now playing for the Dragons in 2005, that Morris will be a priority then....

Johnny Morris is a solid football player, IMO unless some young kid really fires Morris will be re signed.

If Morris goes we should also let go of Wagon and buy Anasta in 2006.

There's a couple of things you got to be thinking about on that one

1. Would Anasta leave for the Eels?

2. If he leaves, he'd most likely end up at with the Waratahs as they are really wanting him to make the switch

3. He's a top-performer and makes big money, how would you fit him under the salary cap. He'd cost big bucks for the club.

Braith Anasta signing with the Parramatta Eels would be a long shot, and I mean LONG shot. Not being slack but being realistic.

I agree with what you said. Not the *edit* part but the over-rated part for sure. I had to add top-performer cause that's how he's imaged in Rugby League.

I disagree!

Braith Anasta is complete player when his on song and that showed when he played on with that strnum injury,

He's a definite victom of the "tall poppy sydrome" and has been for years, He's also achieved more than most of our players have and would stroll in our first grade side.

I'm not ashamed to say that I'm a Braith fan :D

Made to look good playing outside of Sherwin IMO. His injury was talked up.

Back then Kidwell wasnt half the player he is now. I was merely using him as an example. Not bait for someone to have a crack at Smith.

Kidwell was a socker back then, he finished up on the reserve grade bench and couldnt hold a ball at all, no other club wanted him, so he went to the UK for a couple of seasons, and to his credit, worked hard on his game...came back here and has taken his chances.

As for Johnny Morris. He has been solid but unspectacular. Its a real big season co ing up for him especially with the flood of players coming up through our ranks in the halves.

A common misperception about Morris is that he came to us to play hooker, when in fact he just wanted to be a starting player. Its make or break for Johnny this year.

I think the 2nd half of 03 was his best at Parra. When he was starting 5/8 he was fantastic at times.

If for some reason John Morris will not be re-signed by the club, then maybe he should be signed by the Tigers ;-)

Nah, actually we are in more need of a stronger forward pack.
