I guess we are often giving it to John Morris in some of these threads but he plays his 250th first grade game tonight...not a lot get to do that. Pretty good effort on his behalf so credit where credit is due I think.

Christ, I saw this thread title and thought it was something to do with signing him. Please don't scare me like that.

Shane Flanagan knows where to play him - 30 minutes off the bench. Even then you notice the difference between De Gois and him.

He was always a 9.

Even if you go through these threads from years ago and look at how much praise we all gave him when he filled in for Farah at Hooker, you'll see that our gripe wasn't so much against Morris, but the coach for forcing him to be a 7 when clearly he wasn't.

Like many Tigers fans, I don't dislike the guy, it's hard to when he gave 100% every time he took the field despite being horribly misused. When Sheens finally got him out of the halves and played him off the bench at lock, he started to perform well and the team actually went on a long winning streak. What he brought to the table and what the Tigers needed were two different things.

He was a terrible 7. At the same time I really liked him as a player. He really puts in, his defence is fantastic and he has a lot of skill.

He just wasn't a 7.

He was Sheens biggest stuff-up at the club.

Corey Payne, Rocky Trimarchi and Danny Galea in the front row.
Daniel Fitzhenry anywhere (ok, maybe a pass on the wing).

They rate above Moltzen at fullback for mine.

I still hold to the idea that if Morris was used as a backrower/Farah fill in or a sub off the bench for the backrow or injuries to the centres, he would have been a much-loved member of the squad who may well still be there.

Morris at 7 however.... blergh. Not his fault though. Every team needs players of this calibre, and a coach who can use them appropriately.

EDIT: Payten for 7!

Galea at prop was a shocker, thankfully only happened once.

The other two were no worse than Moltzen at fullback imo.

I'll pay you Fitzy though, especially in the halves.

Moltzen has been good at fullback. Maybe not perfect but he is starting to get it together again. When he did last year he was well above average. This year it is turning out the same.

He was signed to replace scott prince
He was asked by the coach to play halfback prior to signing
He said he could play halfback and signed the contract and took the money

It would be like the director general of a hospital offering me a role as the head of cardiology. If I take the cash and the dollars and people die on the operating table it's on my head

And however many I'd have operated on before being declared inept and/or incompetent would still fall short of the number of 4v3 and 3v2 overlaps the utter waste of space murdered

When he played at Parra, he was much better at 6 or 9. A very honest player who doesn`t really fit perfectly into any one position. I guess that makes him a utility player. But, I agree, probably best suited to the hooker role.

I thought we had a pretty decent 6 and 9 ???
So please don't tell me he's a good 6 or a good 9, compared to the 6 and 9 we have he's complete f**king dogshit. And he was complete f**king dogshit at 7

Correct - I liked his effort but he was simply not suited to the tigers with the players we have.
