We've become spoiled as supporters. Lets not forget that our football club spending is on par with the Titans, Manly and Tigers. Yet while those clubs do backflips at the mere prospect of a finals appearance we have become conditioned to regularly going deep and competing with the likes of the Storm and Roosters who literally spend 3 times what we do. Credit needs to go to Flano for putting us in that position (and it was that form and regular finals appearances that attracted players like Moylan and SJ, traditionally we wouldn't have come close to signing one of these guys, let alone both).

Flano also has to shoulder the blame for where we are now that the chickens have come home to roost. He was the one who was caught cheating multiple times. He put us in this salary cap mess with his dumb deals. He even went against his own trusted recruitment team to sign Dugan. They implored him not to. At the end he was crazy and after being sacked there was a time that he needed genuine medical help.

We have an absolute rookie coach who was handed the keys to this ship who is being paid what assistants at other clubs are. He was given a squad full of big heads that nobody bar Flano wanted. Flano thought he could manage the personalities the way he did with Fifita but plenty thought he had bitten off too much with a combo of Woods/Dugan/Moylan/fifita- and it's proving true. On top of this there's no money to sign any players and your middles are all over the hill. Sure, the potential to pull this squad together and have a top 4 season was there given the quality on the field but the whole joint fraying at the edges was equally probable.

I feel for bomber- he was put in an almost impossible position. We can still save this season but with the full benefit of hindsight I become less and less surprised at the way things shook down.

This year is salvageable. We have 3 winnable games coming up and can rattle anyone on our day should we make the semis.

I dont judge Bomber until the year is over.

I consider all the factors affecting this year, starting with ageing and injured forwards, player losses (Lewis and half the backline), player injuries during the season and the fact that the new coach was appointed at the 11th hour. Morris is doing well in the circumstances.

And as BBB said earlier if some of those 5 in a row losses had tries converted and we were victorious, we would not be having this conversation, but rather one about how we manage to win ugly.

Credit for trying something a little bit different and I’m a fan of his when he’s on, but he has way too many bad games to keep defending him or too many f**k ups at crucial times anyway.

Just this year, round 1 vs the knights, bulldogs kick instead of pass, chip and chase vs warriors/panthers.. I’m sure there’s probably been more and this isn’t meant to be a bag Townsend out thread, but he’s the halfback and seems to want to run the team so a lot of the losses fall on him.

Look I don't think that he's been good at all but some of the criticism is way over the top.

Yeah agree there. Like you said earlier I guess we’ve just become spoilt and expect results. When you lay it out like you did in your earlier post about us spending a third of what the more successful clubs do it kind of puts it in to a bit more of a perspective.

It does. I know that I'm desperate for finals in 2019, because I don't think we're a hope in hell of making it next year.

I see better prospects for next year because the team will be more settled and would have enjoyed a full off season of preparation with coach Morris. However injuries will play a role as they always do.

Fifita and Prior need to be given as much time as they need to fully recover from whatever injuries they have...

Williams needs to shed a few kilos and get fitter so that he can be better in defence.

BBrailey needs another 5-6 kilos of muscle.

Assuming there's no turn over the spine, which with our recent history I am reluctant to make.... but IF our spine doesn't change it's the first time in years we haven't had new Spine combos. I'm counting B Brailey as existing spine because he's played and trained with them a fair bit.

Morris could go

1. Dugan

6. Moylan
7. Johnson

Some would like this.

I am not one.

I will be happy with this weeks team (numbered correctly)

1. Moylan
2. Right Wing Three-quarter - Feki
3. Right Centre Threequarter - Dugan
4. Left Centre Threequarter - Xerri
5. Left Wing Threequarter - Morris
6. Shaun
7. Chad

But the baby of the family has his heart set on 3, much like Latrell, Manu and Dugan give no fargs as long as they play right centre.

My precious.

Ronaldo needs to play.
His acrobatic finish against the bunnies proved that. The top sides have those finishers.

Morris aint an idiot. Very astute. Id be surprised if he just rolls out the same squad nek year and for a repeat of this one.

He has to be looking at youth.
Ramien wants 300k from reports.
If we let Duges go to newcastle and pay some of his 800k frieght we coyld swing it.

Morris has to have a plan to move some of these crocks on big money on as well

I just don’t see the point in “moving on” those players when ya have to pay for them to play for another team.

We have benefited from other teams doing it & the teams we get the players off don’t go any better as they have less cap to spend on the same amount of players.

Imagine us doing this & having $350k reduced cap next year.

We’d have a shit team!
