John Sutton? Nah, f**k him...he's not an 'origin player'

Would you be happy with John Sutton as the NSW 5/8 for Game 2?

Another strong performance from the best five-eighth in the comp...leading all 5/8ths in try assists and line break assists, and excellent defender and by a wide margin the most dangerous ball runner that NSW could choose in that position.

But he's not an origin play-...

I know. We need more Dragons players because they don't go missing in big games. We also need more players in key positions who can't set up tries, but 'have a go' and 'get stuck in' like Ennis and Kimmorley. What are line breaks and points when you can give away stupid penalties and kick the ball dead every time?

When he's off though, he's way off. Don't get me wrong Im biased toward him because he's Fijian but maybe as an Origin lock I wouldn't mind.
Wouldn't count on him in the halves though.

As a QLDER no no no ..put Gids in at 5/8...we dont want anyone with talent or creativity in the NSW 5/8 spot.
But if i was a NSW fan i would be asking the same question....why not?

If game 2 fails, Id love to see him given a shot to prove himself.

That's the thing though. We're down 1-0, game 2 is not the time to be conservative and pick Barrett and Kimmorley in the halves. No point waiting until a dead rubber to try new things.

I think either him or Campese should play 5/8th in game 2
i dont care which one, on form you'd probably go Sutton but i think Campo is a better player. Lime green googles firmly on.

He was terrible for the first 6-7 rounds of the competition and cost himself a blues opportunity. Had he put full games together, taken on the line more consistently and not looked disinterested he'd be there.

Completely agree. But because Campese had one bad game he doesn't get another chance, wasn't up to it etc. Ignoring the failures that have played 10-13 games in the last 5 series and continue to get picked...Kurt Gidley, Matt Cooper...

Couldn't do any worse than the collection of back rowers, centres & 5/8's that were supposedly safer and more consistent at 5/8 and have helped Nsw to 4 series losses in a row.

Don't worry guys, Nsw will pick captain Gidley at 5/8 for this game. Even though he has failed at the 3 or 4 other positions that he's had a crack at previously for Nsw and isn't a 5/8's arsehole.

the worst part is the game he played was lost by NSW on some pathetic defense, nothing more, some real arm hanging out soft c**k attempts at tackling Folau and i think Thurston?

In that game Campese set up a try with his kick to Hayne and was the ONLY NSW back to not miss a single tackle. If you want to add some attacking flair with Origin level defense, Campese is the man. He's the best edge defender in the comp.

Sutton, Finch and Campese are the 3 best defensive five-eighths according to the stats...and yet idiots want Barrett or Gidley or Bird as the 'safe option'

it's mind boggling.

I have a strange feeling that Mitch Pearce will be the halfback once fit and they will team Anasta with him at 5/8. That's my tip for game 3 and possibly game two if Pearce plays well before then.

Soward
Campese
Sutton

One of those players has to be at 5/8, alongside Pearce, if NSW want to win.

But please oh please keep picking Kidley, Kimmorley and Centre.
