Be interesting to see the breakdown of the types of memberships each club has I.e ticketed members, non-ticketed, pet etc.
I remember only a few years ago parra and canterbury have a competition first to 20k
Who’d have thunk that the doggies are fair weather supporters ?
I think most supporter bases can be called fairweather in the NRL.
Except that we did OK after the spoon.
When we're winning we get a lot more though. See attendances of mid-09 compared to the latter rounds. Huge difference.
I'm not sure why there is the culture of not attending games in the NRL. The thing people usually complain about, ticket prices, don't seem to bother people when their team is winning. Maybe NRL fans don't want to be associated with loosers?
When your team wins you feel good. Who wants to pay money to be dissapointed?
I understand that part. Most posters on here are a different level type of fan. I doubt 95%of fans know who Schneider or Hollis is for example.
And yet in other sports you still see full or close to full stadiums when their teams aren't doing well. There is a culture of just completely not turning up to NRL games, especially when your team is losing.
Don't need to know who junior players are to turn up to watch your team.
Bankwest is a game changer I reckon. Its that good. A promising team helps of cause. If our upward trend continues both on and off the field we have an unbelievable advantage with OUR Bankwest. And yet in other sports you still see full or close to full stadiums when their teams aren't doing well. Agree. I wonder how many season ticket holders we have of the 25000 members.Bankwest is a game changer I reckon. Its that good. A promising team helps of cause. If our upward trend continues both on and off the field we have an unbelievable advantage with OUR Bankwest.
Watching on TV gives you a better view. The only downside is lack of atmosphere, depending on who's round your house when the game's on.And yet in other sports you still see full or close to full stadiums when their teams aren't doing well. Only rugby league and basketball I reckon. Every other sport has far too much interesting shit happening off screen. The close ups that are the strength of TV viewing necessarily omit all that. Maybe watching sport on two screens, with one screen dedicated to a full field view, would give the best of both worlds.Isn't that the case with every sport?

But rugby league rarely requires the full field view, and when it does it's tackle five and the broadcast team is ready to switch cameras.

Doesnt show the players up field positioning and jostling to recieve the kick.
You could have stopped here.AFL is too hard to watch.
