Dugan played pretty good til he had to move into 5/8th. He struggled then. I guess Dugan and Hayne have even more in common.

Except Hayne trained as a 5/8 whereas Dugan just slotted in. Totally the same thing..

Even though I'm sure you're taking the piss haha

I don't think Hayne ever wanted to play at five-eighth, probably why he struggled so much, also his skills as a ball-player were no where near developed.

Dugan I think has ball-playing skills, but he is far better as a support player, which is why moving him to five-eighth in any side would be foolish; when Hayne eventually goes to five-eighth, him in the halves with Carney or Pearce with Dugan at fullback would be a spine to match QLD's. Dugan is far better at fullback, is wasted anywhere else in my opinion-not saying anything against him, I think he should stay at fullback his whole career-whilst Hayne may eventually go to the halves if he works on balancing effort with effectiveness, and actually getting it into his brain that it will be good for him....

What I respect about Dugan over Hayne is that if Dugan was told to move to the halves-hell he did it without question basically last night when they were attacking (which is what Hayne does)-Dugan wouldn't ask any questions or complain, he would do it. Hayne on the other hand would have to be convinced to do it, because he will, yes, have a sook if he is moved from his favourite spot.

Hayne plays as a five-eighth in attack anyway, and unsurprisingly he is the pivot for all of the Eels tries, whether he stays at fullback and works on things such as positional play and effort or goes into five-eighth and makes full use of his ball-playing skills is the million dollar question to Eels fans.

Dugan will be NSW fullback one day, mark my words. I can't go past this kid, he is a star. We will see what eventuates....apparently Hayne has been tipped to move to five-eighth anyway for 2011.

Gordon Express derails Hayne Train
Todd Balym
From: The Daily Telegraph

LAST year we had the Hayne Train; this year it's all aboard the Michael "Flash" Gordon Express.

Penrith fullback Gordon is on a run of form that is so impressive it is statistically similar to Jarryd Hayne's hot streak last year, when the Parramatta superstar collected six successive man-of-the-match awards to secure the Dally M Medal.

Gordon only switched to fullback six weeks ago to cover for a groin injury to Lachlan Coote, but his efforts have been eye-catching to say the least.

He has scored six tries and amassed 57 tackle breaks in that short period - both better results than what Hayne produced in rounds 19 to 24 last year, when his star rocketed in the NRL stratosphere.

Gordon's average metres gained was only slightly less than Hayne's but still above 200m - a phenomenal result for any NRL player.

The main area, however, where Hayne has Gordon covered is in the Eels star's ability to bring his teammates into the game.

The Penrith fullback has only one line break assist and two try assists as opposed to Hayne's four line break assists and six try assists.

Roosters fullback Anthony Minichiello said Gordon's influence for the Panthers had not gone unnoticed by his team as they prepare for tonight's semi-final clash at the Sydney Football Stadium.

The former Test star noted Gordon had lifted in confidence ever since he debuted in State of Origin for NSW this year.

"He's been outstanding. He's had spiders on him the last couple of months. He is a danger for us," said Minichiello. "I think anyone who plays or has a debut in Origin or a game or two in there comes back to their club side and just ooze confidence and they get a lot out of it, and he is a player that has done that."

The big uncertainty for tonight is whether Gordon will even line up in the custodian role, with Coote pushing for a late return after six weeks out with osteitis pubis.

Minichiello is expecting Coote to play, which could push Gordon back onto the wing he occupied for the Blues, adding another attacking dimension to one of the NRL's most potent backlines.

"I think [Coote] will know personally if he is ready to play and I think the coach won't be silly enough to put him in when he is underdone," said Minichiello.

This article is sort of on topic with them comparing Gordon to Hayne last season. It's great to see Gordon getting some recognition, although I hope that he gets moved to centre next season. If he can continue this sort of form in the centres then he'll get a NSW spot without having to compete with Dugan, Hayne or Uate.
