None of us know what happened for him to waive the cooling off period.

Perhaps Dragons were told the offer and asked to match it, but declined.

If so, they weren't coming back during the cooling off period anyway.

If this happened, they have a plan in hand I reckon. Mickey just may be onto something re his latest prediction
Maybe Saints pulled the offer completely(money committed elsewhere??) and Dugan had nowhere to go?? Waived the cooling off period in case Sharks low balled him once they found out.
All very x files but in the repeated words of Aaron Woods - it is what it is.

Good on him, if it came down to three years or four the club has made it clear that they did not try to keep him. We have an Australian rep who gives 100% every game and we have fans running him down, pathetic.

I suspect, that all the crap being placed at Dugan's feet should be directed towards the club and Millward. I don't think the plan was ever to re-sign him and they have just dicked him around. Any fan running him down should go back and look at the games over the last couple of years where he has been basically the only player showing any passion and effort and realise we owe him.

Now lets see what happens with Mann, we have Widdop re-signed after stuffing around for a couple of years, we have Millward annointing Field as the next fullback without any reason to base this on. Mann has shown in the last couple of games he should have been seriously considered as the 5/8 going into the future, but now where do you fit him?
As a utility player why stay? What a mess.

I strongly believe in giving juniors a chance to show what they can do but, I don't believe in giving them a golden run without any evidence to show they can produce what's required.

Cronulla have done well, 750 is a fair price for him, especially if the cap widens over the next few years. Doesn't change the fact he isn't a ball player. Dragons have Field, Dufty perhaps but need to sign a replacement now.

I agree to some extent.

But the big question i have is in 2 or 3 years time would Dugan still be the preferred fullback. Field does look pretty exciting and with Dufty as well you would think that one or both will be genuine first graders by then. You would think that locking Dugan down for 4 years would make it more likely to lose Dufty and Field in a years time.

The money is bizarre though. 750k is definitely undervalued at the moment. Wonder if he would have taken 900k across 2 years

I think between Field, Dufty, Mann and possibly Marsters further on down the track we have ample options at fullback without signing anyone IMHO.

If we do sign someone you would hope it's only a 1 or 2 year deal. Like McCrone this year just to get us through a season or two.

Good for him for a guy who has no real vision and barely can pass left to right getting some good coin is a good thing.

Listening to what Dufty did today fills me with hope in the second half he literally won the game on his own.

Defence is still a bit of an issue but the way he can chime into a backline movemnt off the back of widdop and Hunt exciting times ahead.
Yeah that second half by Dufty I would have loved to been there and seen . The commentator's compared him to Slater with what he was doing . For me he is currently well ahead of Field and Mann for that position as he is a specialist Fullback . He is now doing what he was doing in the 20's against men week in week out . He will never be the defensive player Dugan is he just doesn't have that size . But while he is playing like he is and is full of confidence give him a go in the top grade .

He is playing NSW cup and has one half of good football. Mann has played first grade for a number of years and defensively is very very good. He also can ball play and is elusive. Why wouldn't you give him first shot at fullback now?

Not waiving the cooling off period is a sign that the player is still open to negotiation.

Dugan did us a favour by waiving it as it would have been another 10 days of speculation.
Agree he has done the club a favour by waiving the 10 days.
Allows Millward to move forward now.
I say all the very best to Dugs!
Always gave 100%.
Good luck to him!
