The correct meaning of the word "journeyman" is to do with the completion of an apprenticeship, and the right to work for wages. The "journey" part comes from the French word for day (journee).

The idea that it has something to do with, for example, the number of places that the man has worked, or the number of clubs that a player has worked for, is just plain wrong.

In defence of the English language.

It also means. An experienced and competent but undistinguished worker. Which I suppose defines most of these players that have been to so many clubs.

Yes Norrie played for the Panthers, where he probably didn't get the opportunities his performances warranted. Another player Matty Elliot probably wasn't able to develop appropriately.

Actually I would argue he probably got more of a run then he deserved based on his performances for us. Guy was deadset average. Obviously under a decent coach he is more then that. But I wouldn't have backed him to be as capable as he is today based on what he delivered at Penrith.

I consider a journeyman a guy who went to different clubs more so cause he had to then out of choice. That's why I thought of guys like Craig Stapleton and Adam peek. Moved around looking for a home. A guy like kimmorley changed clubs for money, he was always in demand. Arana taumata moved around because he was a fckwit.

Well going off your definition of journeyman I'd go with Brett Finch as well

Canberra Raiders
Sydney Roosters (cash)
Parramatta Eels (pushed out of roosters)
Melbourne Storm (pushed out of eels)
Wigan Warriors (pushed due to cap)
Melbourne Storm

I think that's the textbook definition. A player good enough for first grade with a solid training ethic who doesn't really have the talent to truly cement a place in a side, and is continually moved on due to cap pressure or the emergence of more talented youngsters, but who always finds a new club. Tyran Smith and John Carlaw are the two who I always think of.
