I actually thought his story had credibility.
he didn't know he was an interchange official & the official told him to shut up.

Anybody else would have probably not been reported or probably let off.

he went in pleaded guilty with his career on the line.

When is an official who has never spoken to a player ever before, allowed to tell a player to shutup?
For me that is enciting the situation which was already heated.

I thought an official was an official .. do they have to speak to each other before, now.

And didn't he call him a f#ggot.

The "official" was in a NSWRL tracksuit top with the other interchange official for the game. I don't know if he was actually "officiating" at that game either. Another case of an official trying to be a hero in front of everybody.

I may be a little bias in this situation but IMO there is a definite vendetta against Hoppa, both by referees and touchies.

He walked up to him in the tunnel with a tracksuit on.
there heaps of people in the tunnel.
Hoppoate was giving the other player a spray( why were they both in the tunnel) & Alchin tells him to shutup.
that is not even his job. he is nota touchie, not a ref just an interchange official. like a ball boy. & the only ID was an emblem on his shirt.

At the end of the day Hoppas stuffed up. he should have remained squeaky clean.
But, you know, he's not the brightest bloke &that is putting it very mildly.
You would be shocked.

Firstly, IMO, Hoppa should not have been allowed back in the game after his impersonation of an Alien.

Secondly he was allready abusing an official when the second official stepped in so he was abusing an official no matter which way you look at it.

When he is abusing a fellow official. Who knows, he may have told him to shut it trying to help John from going too far.

At least he got off the spitting at the cameraman bit.

Absolutely i already posted that.
But, you have talk to Hoppa to understand. He really is not an einstein. It is quite a shock actually.
& I read that report(telegraph) PJ so I don't know which is correct.
Other reports say he was sledging Hopkins?
As for what he said about their(officials) games being f**king disgraceful, well, all I say is go digital/active & tune into the games referee audio.
You will be shocked by what is said 50 times every match.

Regardless of who it is or who Hoppa thought the person was calling him a faget and telling him thats he's going to bash his head in is not the way to conduct yourself when you have so many charges in your long RL history. Hopoate is an idiot he can't control himself.

SMH and Tele both report it as being the toughy he his abusing.

It would be unusual wouldn't it for him to sledge Hopkins with, and here I'm going from memory, something along the lines of you and your mates had the usual crap game when they had just been lapped.

I'm not in favour of any abuse of officials unless I'm the one doing it, and I can assure you it is allways justified and completely without bias :D , but I think there is a world of difference between letting off in the heat of the moment on the field and giving it to them in public after the game when some of the feeling should have gone out of it.

Basically though I have no sympathy at all for him.

Don't know but you could be right.

Even if it was though shouldn't 10 mins in the bin given him a bit of time to blow off the steam and get his head together?

look Hoppas never going to do that. The guy has an IQ of 50
But, I thought the league had already sortedout the issue of seperating players on leaving & joining the feild. Way back when Dowling took on Tamate in the grandstand.(f**k that was a good stink)
Anyway, Hoppa & Hoppy were together in the tunnel for like 3 minutes

If it was during the game, and not at the end, then wouldn't that mean there was even less chance of the 2nd guy he abused being anyone other than an official of some sort?

From the Tele
Hopoate was charged with abusing touch judge Steve Chiddy and threatening and swearing at interchange official Darren Alchin in the players tunnel after Manly's loss at Parramatta Stadium last Sunday.

So if this report is right then yuor point is moot. It was after the game.

Either way though, he may be dumb and he may be a great bloke off the field but on the filed he is more trouble than he is worth and the game won't miss him.

Agreed.
Luckily it is up to Manly decide if he is worth it or not & not the Sharks.
Because like all the Manly players say, he will be a great loss.
