McGuire fined for another eye gouge.

I’ve always cringed when people say I’m not watching anymore because of decisions the NRL make, but it’s honestly getting very close to my tipping point.

Hudson-young gets 5 weeks for the same thing - 2 of the 5 weeks for priors. How does McGuire continue to get away with it?

June 2018 - Stomped on Tim Glasby - fine
July 2018 - Contact with referee - fine
August 2018 - Pulls Adam Elliott’s hair - 2 weeks
April 2019 - Eye gouge on Cameron Munster - fine
June 2019 - Eye gouge in Dylan Walker - fine.

5 charges in 12 months.
2 eye gouge charges in 3 months.

The merkin should be rubbed out for at least the rest of the season.

Absolutely despicable behaviour from McGuire and not much better from the NRL and judiciary.

I wonder what Timmah thinks of the decision to fine McGrub for a 2nd eye gouge this season.

Hudson Young and the Raiders should take the MRC to the UN Human Rights Commission for this abomination of double standards.

Haha barely a week after they put a line in the sand. Mcguire of all players and they still f**k it up. What a joke.

I haven't seen the incident in question to be able to answer so I won't indulge that question. Not even sure why you think it's relevant to ask me.

What does confuse me is the repeat fines. I understood that the idea behind switching some punishments to fines instead of weeks out that it would still weed out repeat offenders and once it hit some kind of threshold that it would actually switch to suspensions. McGuire's fine is above $4k now as a result of no less than four similar priors, I would've thought surely that would pass that threshold.

I could be wrong and such a thing doesn't exist, but I thought that's what the original reports were when fines were introduced.

The judicial system needs a massive overhaul. The Burgess and McGuire inconsistencies are farcical at best. If you head butt you should be out for minimum 6 weeks not handing over lunch money. Eye gouge a second time that’s your season done.

Isn’t it great how this new fine system has favoured one or two grubs who know exactly how to exploit it. It’s great we have a system that attempts to legitimise deadset grub acts. Eye gouges and headbutts are fines lol whatevs

Looking forward to seeing how Annesley squirrels out of this one at his media briefing.

Is this bizarro world? Eye gouging is now judged as a minor incident, not even a sin bin, but punching a bloke warrants a 10 minute rest. What if the punch was in retaliation of an eye gouge or other dirty act?

I get that the outlawing of punching was to clean the game up for children and families, but doing nothing on field for an eye gouge is sending a worse message. And like most nanny laws, it’s not up to the NRL to be surrogate parents.
