Let's look at the facts:
  • David Klemmer got off for touching a ref in another game.
  • Josh Reynolds tripped a player for the fourth time and effectively got off, could have broken a leg, saved a try in a 3 point victory
  • Tony Williams threw the ball forward to himself to score a try a few rounds back.
  • Tyson Frizell got a week's suspension to prove a point to the players.
My post got deleted so let me leave out the claims of cheating. Just wish to say my new passion is barracking for anyone playing the Bulldogs. They've infested our league as video refs and NRL CEO. James Graham thinks he is God's gift. "Rules are rules" is what Moses Mybe said when referring to Frizell's touch. He withheld comment on the trip that could have snapped Joel Thompson's leg. It's sad because he only says it to rile up people like me.

Can't wait to see these Pretenders bow out in the first week of finals.

The NRL is a disgrace.
To humanise the game they have allowed the refs to call the players by their first name, tap the half back on the back & sometimes even the bum to feed the scrum, call out to players to stop infringing, the old don't go early call, get out of there call, get your hands of the ball call, stop that or I will penalise etc.
Now the refs are "god like' creatures that cannot be approached by certain players and when an accidental touch by a player occurs the player then gets rubbed out.
Well next week I want to see the refs calling "No 6 White" instead of Garreth, no warnings to some and not to others re possible infringements, and lets get back to the true them and us regime because it is all very arbitrary as it stands now.

Mate, you wait til the preliminary when Jonathan Thurston does a unconscious tap on the ref's shoulder. Do you think he will be made to sit out the Grand Final?? You and I and the rugby league both know that answer. DOUBLE STANDARDS.

Unfortunately this doesn't matter. The NRL have come out with a zero tolerance statement. That also unfortunately means the first to offend under the new rule was to be made an example. Again, unfortunately that was Friz. The NRL had to charge him to save face. They've set a very awkward precedent.

They haven't come out with a zero tolerance policy.
The new interpretation is you have to prove that you couldn't avoid the contact and that is was both accidental and incidental.
They have upheld the decision as they believe he could of avoided the contact.
Again another rule open to interpretation.

The day that the Refs started to call the players by name , was when the cancer began .
As you said they should be calling the players by number only or captain .
I believe that this started with Greg Hartley becoming too friendly with the players - a bit of a ego boost being on a first name basis with 1st Grade Rugby League players .

From that point in time , it has become progressively worst .
So much so that you have the Refs constantly backing down against the likes of Melbournes Cameron Smith . Something that I am sure that Bellamy has pumped into him for quite some time now .

The Judicary requires a complete overhaul , get rid of the idiots who quite simply don't know right from wrong !
The only way that I can see this occurring is for the NRL itself to make tough decisions ,
something that whilst Todd Greenberg is in control won't happen .

I don't see why a freaking love tap on the ref deserves a suspension. It should be a 5k fine that goes into some charity fund.

Only suspend those who take it way too far I.e. Punching, shoving etc.

IM ALL IN FAVOUR OF PROTECTING OUR OFFICIALS, BUT THE FRIZELL SUSPENSION IS ONE OF THE WORSE DECISIONS I HAVE EVER SEEN ON A FOOTBALL FIELD....ABSOLUTELY BLOODY RIDICULOUS, PATHETIC AND DISGRACEFUL....SHAME ON THE LEAGUE FOR ALLOWING SUCH A PITIFUL SITING IN THE FIRST PLACE...SO FROM NOW ON ARE WE GOING TO SCUTINISE EVER MINUTE DETAIL THAT HAPPENS OUT IN THE MIDDLE .HAVNT WE SEEN HALF BACKS ACTUALLY BUMP OR TOUCH REFS WHEN THEIR STANDING IN FRONT OF A SCRUM WHEN THEIR FEEDING THE BALL..I WONDER WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE DECISION IN LAST NIGHTS GOLDEN POINT GAME WHEN IT WAS OBVIOUS WHEN BOTH SIDES WERE MILES OFF SIDE IF ONE OF THE PLAYERS HAD BRUSHED OR BUMPED THE REF WHEN ATTEMPTING A CHARGE DOWN....NRL YOUVE LOST ME OVER THIS RUBBISH

Long time reader. First time poster.

FFS, what a joke.

Going out of your way to stomp on a players nuts is ok (Nathan Brown for Souths earlier in the season). But this trivial, incidental, absolutely minimal contact with the ref is worthy not just of a stern warning but an actual 1 week suspension. Outrageous!

Crazy! Let the fine fit the crime. Repeat offender for tripping plays on while a guy running back to be onside & brushes the ref goes for a week.

The penalty would never have stood if it was Thurston. Or Smith. Or Lyons. Or a handful of other players who seem to be treated differently.

Yep..I have had a gut-full myself...Hard to be interested when these obvious inconsistencies occur.

Why does the NRL have a "judiciary counsel" making an argument but three f*cking idiots sitting in judgement?

The guys who've pointed out the game lost the plot when refs started referring to players by their first name are spot on. FFS, a kid can make his debut and the ref will know who he is! Why the f*** is the ref reading the match program instead of his rule book? Apart from the captain everyone else should be red 4, blue 6 etc.

A quick "be careful" and a simple "sorry sir" from Frizzel was all that was needed in this situation.

The most absurd decision in years of watching NRL....in all honesty if they keep going down this track where there is so much bias in favour of protected teams and players as well as incompetent refereeing I might just give up on the farce that is becoming of this game.

Me to mate...this message to officials.......Penrith supremo Phil Gould wrote on Twitter: "Honestly, you've had your fun. Is there any chance we can have our game back now please? Before it's too late!!"
