Some take aways from the smh article:

wa govt won’t choose a bid to support, but will support whoever wins. Wa govt report due in June.

Cumins and 5 rich wa backers believe they can meet the. $30million surety the nrl is looking for

other wa corporate and backer interest and will now work on getting them on board given Vlandys statement about Perth favoured for club 19 by 2030

cumins and consortium have met with wa govt many times over last two years

the Perth consortium Havent spoken with bears or jets and prefer to go it alone and be a genuine Perth Club.

Perth consortium believe they are ready to go.

and one of the biggest comments in it, PNG are not the shoe in some seem to think for club 18.

NRL wants Perth bears. NRL hasn't spoken to Cumins. Perth bid has no details & may not even exist..

If you think about it, it's actually a match made in heaven because both Perth and the Bears are capable of expert level whining- join together like some captain planet level whinge!
Ricky Stuart would be the perfect Coach and set a new record by complaining about the reffs before a ball is kicked..

The problem I have with PNG joining in is the current government’s $600 million package. They are say $60 million for 19 years.

What happens when the government changes, will the new government support this $60 million per year deal?

Also, PNG is too violent. Imagine being an away supporter!

Won't happen. Vlandys demands team be bears knowing that is completely unpalatable for westerners. Snookering them out of existence.
The cynical side of me sees this as V'landys trying to get the Bears in via the back door. If the licence is awarded to the Bears then they can relocate back to Sydney once support in Perth begins to wane.

Wouldn't that send Perth Rat and co over the edge if it came true?

Perth will do whatever vlandys tells them to do

its interesting about comments about rich corporate people wanting to get involved as well

the reality is Perth won’t produce juniors for 20 years plus

they need a junior PayWay from somewhere

plus the north shore is rich and will add at least 5k members but more like 10k plus plus sponsors

Broadcasters don’t want a stand alone Perth term but they do want the bears so all of a sudden a Perth side adds value to the tv deal

stop moaning and just be happy you get a team when the reality is you might not ever have gotten one

Not if Perth own the license or a majority

Those sorts of logistics issues are going to have to be dealt with regardless of whether the NSW or QLD Cup partner club is involved with the ownership of the NRL side.

Perth could win the licence without the Bears involved then say to them an opportunity is there to be our NSW Cup feeder partner, take it or leave it.
V’Landys doesn’t want that though.
And the bears arnt getting a mention in Perth media. Are we still talking about perth?
Lol
Is rugby league getting a mention ?

Quality trolling by Pippen and Donkey, Vlandys secretly wants the North Sydney Bears back....because??? He wants to appease a bunch of nostalgia seeking bogan's?

The $60mill is at throw away media line. In reality lets say PNG could manage to generate $5mill a year revenue from sponsors and fans, thats about 30% of the smallest NRl club. It would cost in the region of $35mill to run the club by the time you add in the extra location costs, be it armed walled village in PM or accommodation etc in Cairns.
That leaves Govt picking up the tab of around $30mill a year pus whatever the NRl cut is.

Bears to Perth with a contract that states all games to be played in Perth.
Perth Red to return to Hull with a contract that states he must return to Hull and only be allowed to watch Hull games, then Hull to be relegated.
I would never watch Hull, unless they were playing Rovers. You dont know much about RL do you?

Perth can get that by partnering with any number of NSW or qlnd second tier clubs. they don't have to adopt another clubs brand, let alone concede ownership, for that to happen.

Its more likely 3000 at most part time members and a sponsor or two, is that really worth having to wear someone else's clothes? Bears would need to bring a lot more to the table than that.

Ive seriously never seen anyone under 50 in a Bears jersey, and most of who Ive seen have been much older.
