I'm sure your mate is a very scary blokeFFS rest our best No. 9 in B Hunt and give Sullivan a go at 7 with porn star mustache ( AKA poor man's Borey Snorman - Amone-Noone inferior shadow) and put Mboi at 9 or 14. If pornstar mustache still doesn't cut it then I'll drive him to Redcliffe to sign St.Benny's contract myself.
The f'ing arrogant dopey prick arked up to one of my mates in the Gong one night in the club scene a couple of months back. He wanted to drunkenly punch on with a 7th dan black belt. Luckily for my mate being cool calm sober and ethical, otherwise Mr Mustache may have only seen a footy field from his wheelchair.
Come on mate. Steven Seagal movies don’t need a love interest.Love a story thay has it all the villian the hero the happy ending. Minus credits for missing the damsel in distress
Not having a go at you but how do you know we are not following the "Penrith" model and developing juniors or we don't have any structures and systems in place?Maybe I'm not clear. I don't think we need to buy a comp. I don't think we need to cheat the cap. I think we need to follow the Penrith model and develop our juniors. We have the basis for a successful team in a year or two without buying more than a couple of good forwards. What we don't appear to have is the structure and system in place to make this happen.
Yes I can see what you are saying and maybe your theory might play out in the future. The way I see things currently is that Burton went to the dogs on good coin, but have the dogs performed any better and all of a sudden been there for a top 4 finish. You will have noticed that as soon as Burton went into SOO2 and surrounded by his ex penrith team mates he looked a superstar, now if we were to land him in some magical way after maybe going into a bidding war and I would say he may command around the 1mill, if not more, we would lose him for min 3 games a year and all our outside backs are not the same quality as penrith, just the way he was looking at the dogs, remember the sort of game he had against us. We need to develop our juniors and stick to the penrith model as we are doing, we have the Academy and soon the COE, we also need the right people in our pathways.I wouldn’t say Burton is way more advanced in his career. He’s played only 22 more games than Amone has… It’s not idiotic in my opinion to consider an option where we get a player that will almost certainly turn out to be better. Key word CONSIDER. Just about every club in the nrl will be considering burton as an option given he’s set to test his worth, it’d be stupid not to in my opinion. That’s not to say I don’t like Amone, I think he’s developing very nicely and getting better with every performance which is very pleasing to see. However, Burton is going to be an outright star and will soon be in the top 10 players in the NRL. To not consider putting a premiership winner, State of Origin rep and someone with an already developed kicking game next to our next big thing in Sullivan would just be foolish. Consideration doesn’t mean it has to be done. I think it is something worth exploring but there’s plenty to happen before deciding whether this is really feasible or if we can work around the lack of experience of Amone and Sullivan together in first grade by improving other areas in our team around them.
Well said justa.Yes I can see what you are saying and maybe your theory might play out in the future. I'm the one giving this some air. I did have some reason to bring it up on the Forum only because I have had this hunch but I guess my hunch is just that and hope that what you say is correct. So, where has all this 'talk' about Sloan being upset, frustrated, disillusioned etc come from?
Has Tyrell openly said this?
Maybe he's just frustrated with his own performance. Maybe what is being taught to him isn't coming off in game situations and so on and so on.
If anyone saw when Macca run on for his 300th game, who was in the first 2 in the line clapping and celebrating pretty vigorously, yep our disillusioned, frustrated, upset Mr Sloan.
Fox has a lot to work on in his defense and general organising, his time to return to 1st grade will come soon enough.
thanks for posting the links mate. Not having a go at you but how do you know we are not following the "Penrith" model and developing juniors or we don't have any structures and systems in place?

Dragons unveil plans for Community and High Performance Centre
The St George Illawarra Dragons have unveiled its plans to build a state-of-the-art Community and High Performance Centre (CHPC) at the University of Wollongong's Innovation Campus.www.dragons.com.au
We are also picking up quality juniors to supplement our own from other area's (Gold Coast, Newcastle area, Western Sydney).
We are heavly involved in the women game as well
Don't get caught up with all the negatives that you read here.
Not to mention the uni and all the opportunities that brings. And if Thirroul to Scarborough isn't one of the most beautiful and desirable places to live I don't know what is. We're alot more of an attractive club than most people give us credit forThe other reason that Pathways & the academy make sense is where we are in Wollongong. We may have some issues getting high quality players who reside in Sydney or want the big 3rd party funded bucks but some players also may see Sydney as a shithole to live in. One great attraction in securing Matthews, Ball & Flegg players from Country NSW & QLD is that Wollongong is not Sydney so the parents feel their son's cant get into as much trouble. The attraction also for these young players is lifestyle with accessible beaches & more affordable lodgings when they become independent. Buying a property at Shell Cove is achievable but a mere dream for equal in Sydney. This is what I can see the club is doing. May take some time but this model is far more sustainable.
Good point , The offer of free Uni / TAFE education localy where they play. Not to mention the uni and all the opportunities that brings. High level of professionalism. Hahaha! You are right, there are a heap of "lifestyle" benefits. But that doesn't fit with everyone. Some players are looking for those clubs that are likely to win a premiership in the not too distant future. Those are also the clubs that are able to retain quality players long term (and often for less than what they could get elsewhere) because the winning culture is ingrained. They'd rather put up with living in less desirable places if they have a chance of being successful in their career.
We are getting there with the COE/Pathways/Academy etc. but it's going to take a while to build that up - we haven't got that historical evidence there of continued success. If we can get that winning culture and establish an ongoing high level of professionalism from the top all the way down, these lifestyle benefits will be the cherry on top.
Yeah well as my daughters & wife keep telling me "it's cost me a fortune dreaming, of winning Powerball"Love your enthusiasm possm. Like my old man used to tell me: “ Son it costs nothing to dream “
Good luck slippery, may you win the big one one dayYeah well as my daughters & wife keep telling me "it's cost me a fortune dreaming, of winning Powerball"
Hey nothing wrong south of Thirroul either. Not to mention the uni and all the opportunities that brings. And if Thirroul to Scarborough isn't one of the most beautiful and desirable places to live I don't know what is. We're alot more of an attractive club than most people give us credit for
they put the HIGH into High Performance CentreDoesn’t Wollongong have a massive unemployment rate? When I’ve been down for work a few times mid week it seems there’s just junkies everywhere, even saw young kids having a fight in the park next to WIN
I think Wollongong's unemployment rate is 5.3% compared to the State's rate of 3.9% so yes, Wollongong does have unemployment issues meaning lots of people having lots of idle time at the expense of the taxpayer. But putting this aside, there are the attractions of the south coast and the hinterland that brings people to the area. Those NRL guys we have living in the Wollongong District I feel sure are very happy doing so and raising their families there.Doesn’t Wollongong have a massive unemployment rate?
