why don't we do a trade with a team that needs a half for year and we will take their hooker, just like harry grant did with tigers

I'll give you one name who was playing a back seat at FB & then wasn't guaranteed a starting playmaker role this year, so he signed else where. HYNES !!!!!!!!
What is that got to do with anything. He was an established 1st grader at Melb with nearly 40 games under his belt and showed he was 1st grade class many times over.
Sullivan will have his chance, remember has hardly played even reserve grade before this year

Yes, established 1st grader who was told they "couldn't" guarantee him a starting position, so he went else where & only got his opportunity through injury at the storm, even though he & Grant were standouts in the QLD cup.
Which Grant too had a clause to be released if Smith went another year.
So if that's the clubs attitude, it might be at their own doing......

Because there would be a huge chance of losing Sullivan for good. I'd say it better to move Sullivan to halfback for the remainder of this season and Hunt to hooker. Mainly because Sullivan is our future halfback and Hunt is in his final years as an NRL player. Hunt is also the Qld SOO hooker.

I believe the timing could not be better for the Dragons to make such a move.

Wayne is a grubby old flog
100%, if the nrl allow the Dolphins to negotiate prior to 1st november, then that will be a disgrace, it's not the Dragons fault the recruitment has been slow for them. All it will do is now put clubs like ours under more pressure to get things done and also has given the manager of Amone a loaded gun to point at the club. In all seriousness, Amone is a talent but what has he achieved at this stage of his career, we are all hoping he turns out to be a superstar FOR THE DRAGONS but he isn't one yet !!! And now we are going to be placed in a compromised position just because the media has revealed once again that Wayne is looking at him. All this targeting players before their contracts are up, way before, is really diabolical.

You are 100% justa. This 17th club fiasco is a bloody disgrace. If Wayne cannot get the men that he has been reportedly been after, it is not our fault nor any other club nor the NRL's.

Does any other club whinge like Wayne has been? We have been after players like every other club but do we always get our man? No. Wayne and his recruiters have jobs to do just the same as us and others and it is basically what offers suit each individual and other preferences like location, family, money, term etc.

In the case of Amone, he is starting to show much more improvement in how he is playing and hopefully that is got something to do with what Griffin has been slowly doing for him.

We need him so that one day these young ones can help us in the future.

If Bennett is looking at him, then incumbent on our mob to tie him up and explain that he has a bright future with us. No different to us supporters asking our club to sign talented players from other teams. Unfortunately can't have it both ways.
Agree with some and disagree with other points in your post. We are a RL nursery and yes we cant expect to keep everyone, but unfortunately we have been cherry picked by numerous other clubs, and who have we signed of note in the last 10 years, Hunt maybe, most other players have been players discarded by their own club or have come onto the market, when was the last time you heard that the dragons had signed someone up whilst still in contract with another club, and on most occasions the player would have requested a release. How do we know that the club hasnt been in negotiations with Amone thinking they had until the 1st November, now if the NRL cave in to uncle Wayne then there will be a lot of undue pressure placed on the club. All this has done now is upped his price, and we are all bitching that the club has to pay overs, standby this could get ugly.

We have many of our players re-signed, now we need to tie up Sloan, Amone, and Sullivan to long-term deals. Hunt to hooker, De Belin to partner Molo at prop, a couple of new forwards, and we have a competitive squad of players.

Coaching staff, Flanno, Barrett, and Brown.

So a talented, young, 20 year old junior, who's come through our pathways and shows huge potential for what his future might hold, is only offered a 1 year extension, keeping him on the books for a further two seasons. But comparatively a 31 year old hooker, coming to the club off of a complete hamstring tear, and who was universally recognised as the slowest dummy half in the comp before that injury, was offered a 3 year deal...

Give me a f**ken break
