They have a long way to go to be regular first grader standard. You can all the potential in the world but it takes alot of hard work to even get to the NRL. If Williams is successful at Manly then you also have to give the Manly coaching staff credit for getting him there.

mate, he's being paid first grade wages at Manly, thy're aware that they don't need to do too much to him to get there...they don't deserve any credit.

of course they will get credit...they realised the potential over four years in Parra's system and moved quicker to get him under contract than what Parra did. got to give credit to them for realising the potential of a player from another club.

Clearly they are not doing a good enough job as not many NYC boys have gotten a run in grade this year and only one has stayed in the team for more thana couple of weeks....

Hold on - since when did kids in the past go from U23's or U21's straight to FG ? What planet are you on ? Just because there is no PL on at the Stadium you expect these kids to by-pass Wenty and just be promoted to FG ? :sarcasm:

If he is a success I do think it will be as a result of effort of the Manly staff. Sure the Parramatta staff will deserve credit but you can't say he is a made NRL star at this stage.

Mmm, i always thought that Sterling debuted in FG in 1978, Ella in 1979 and Kenny in 1980 and that Gibson arrived here in '81. :?

My current favourite one - and not so much a junior as such - is Shannon Walker, the young Titans winger. He was under contract to us but we released him to stay on the Gold Coast.

Ever had a look where he came from? Kyogle about 1 and 1/2 hours from the Gold Coast. Great idea to try and keep a young aboriginal boy in Sydney when he wants to be close to his family. You would recruit a very happy bunch of players by the look of it.

Actually if you read the title of the thread you will find it only asks about juniors who have moved on. Not those that we lost out on.

Actually Casey McGuire is illegible for this thread as he is player #598 in our player list meaning he made FG here.
