Jurassic World

That's expected, but I hope they don't overuse the CGI effects - perhaps what I should've said.
The director himself said in recent interviews that practical effects and animatronics will be used - just like the original. Some of the best scenes in Jurassic Park was when they used these practical effects because they look more realistic than CGI.
In the trailer they used CGI for that big door of the theme park and it looked terrible, an example of CGI used incorrectly.

I'm just nitpicking and I'll see the movie of course, but as you can tell I'm not the biggest fan of CGI. They have their place when a director knows when and how to use it and I hope this film is an example of that.

The director has already come out and said that shot was for the trailer only.
The movie itself will have a real entrance. Not sure why they didn't just use that shot, but what do I know.
They have plenty of time to fix up the CGI that looked a bit off in the rest of the trailer as well.

Yeah, it was definitely below average.
I've always been a fan of the second one though. It gets quite a bit of hate, but I found it entertaining.
Except for the gymnast girl. She was a stupid character who had no business being there apart from Spielberg desperately needing a child in the movie.

The reason he needed a child is because all 3 movies have large elements from the original book. The scene in the waterfall (JP2) was Grant with the kids, the raft scene in JP3 was also Grant with the kids (T-Rex mother and baby instead of spinosaurus). Pteranodons were also in the book. Speilberg utilised kids in all 3 movies to take the role of the 2 kids in the first movie when those elements from the book were used.

It does look good and the ad kinda confirms the "trained" raptors thing. I'm thinking they'll explain it with some audio device or shock thing implanted into the raptors.

yeah, it looks like they use the raptors to help them battle the boss dinosaur. I like the raptors as bad dinosaurs though, they are scary as f**k

1st few reviews coming out. Not real good by the sounds of it...
Over reliance on cg, making the dinos and surroundings look plastic. And unfortunately they do the whole lets divert to much of the story towards these two annoying child actors. Chris Prat is apperntly awesome though.

It's the crappy CGI that stuck out the most from the trailer, the raptors just looked terrible.

This review http://www.news.com.au/entertainmen...been-waiting-for/story-e6frfmw0-1227392413791 is pretty positive about it. I'm looking forward to seeing it, I think if you don't expect it to be as brilliant as Jurassic Park and simply judge it on its own merits you won't be disappointed.

Unlike Jurassic Park 3 which is shit

Here is a review from SMh:

Jurassic World is unlike its predecessors in at least one way; it begins not with death or dramatic action, but with a moment of birth. The screen is filled with the image of an egg; as it cracks, an eye is glimpsed, and a clawed foot emerges. It's a moment of anticipation that won't be immediately fulfilled. We switch, instead, to a family scene, in which two brothers are being dispatched on a holiday trip to the dinosaur destination known as Jurassic World.

True. Just had a look again, seems the grumps got in early.
I prefer the fan reviews better anyway, as they give a more accurate view of the movie as it's the target audience critiquing. Fingers crossed, will be going to watch it hopefully tomorrow :D

Great movie, stayed true to the original formula but took the better elements of 2 and 3.

The raptor scene with Pratt on the bike.. .the CGI in that wasn't great. The final kill seemed a bit over the top as well, but not a deal breaker.

The deaths seemed more..... brutal than the first 3.

Favorite bit:

The assistant getting tossed around by the pteros and then that big merkin bursting out of the water to swallow them up hahaha.

Will be back to watch it again.
