Nah. He resigned last year. But wants out due to never getting a shot but that may change with Kemp and Toopi out for so long(Even though Mellars is too :? )

There it is.

While that article is not relevant because of its age & Thurston has since returned, I would say that it is obvious what has happened & his future at the Dogs is under a severe cloud.
he would be a good pick up for the Cowboys.

Whats a real 5/8th?
A premiership winning 5/8th like Preston?
A fullback type 5/8th like locky?
A slowish ball player like Hill?
a ramcharger like Gallen?

Or like the sharks currently use 4 5/8s spread across the time whilst each one is on the feild.
I noticed this against manly & Brisbane. Another thread.

I dunno what a good 5/8th is but the style of 5/8th we need is the Scott Hill style. A perfect foil for Noddy.

Horses for courses. With Kimmorley its someone who can run at gaps, Hill puts himself in the position to hit a gap perfectly, and gets a pass away if needed.

A real 5/8 - Wally.

Well depending on your halfback reefy.
But he should have some creative vision, a kicking game of sorts, and compliment the halfback.

Preston was great in combo with Gower as Gower does the organising and most of the kicking. Leaving Preston to ball play or run himself.
I can see a Sully BK combo working in the same fashion.

Lockyer was always a 5/8, Bennett's Koala needed to be protected from the front line defence but Wayne has finally bitten the bullet.

Hill needs a running half to be effective.

What do we need in a 5/8? Well we have a pretty damn good halfback, we just need someone, with some vision, a kicking game of sorts(BK will do most) and most importantly the ability to be a runner for BK also.
And Michael Sullivan has all the skills I would want for a 5/8 to compliment BK.

I was happy I got to the Broncos game live, as I noticed Hilder does defend mainly at hooker for the whole game. This has been bothering me, as IMO Sully's defence is not what I am after in a hooker.

one who wears No 6?

one who does the job on the day?

Who cares, you look at who is available and decide if they fit the needs of the team. If none of the available do that, manufacture one like raper is doing now :)

the game is so different now the role is re evolving, will again one day and again after that i'm reckonin
