If I can chip my 2 cents in, I completely agree with this post.

I have been using this in our forum (Sharks) in the Bird thread. People wanting to give him 700k because Manly are offering him it.

Bird isn't worth it, neither is Taupau. 700k is elite money. Neither are elite footballers.

Offering big money to players who are not worth it, gets you in cap strife. Hopefully you guys pull through. If players don't want to stay and play for the jersey, let them walk.

Absolutely. As I said I like the guy, he's very marketable and he is good at what he does but he is most effective behind a performing pack. We aren't renowned for having a pack that rolls over the opposition on a regular basis so Marty isn't used to his full ability.

Is paying him overs to sign a few kids on to memberships and a few jerseys worth the possible success he could cost us by paying him $200-300K over what he's worth? That money could go elsewhere to securing a linchpin player who could help us have a red hot tilt at the big prize.

I hazard a guess that winning premierships and being regularly competitive in finals is more effective at securing memberships and merchandising sales than having a big guy roll over the opposition and do push ups on the pitch for show. For all the exposure Benji gave us, we got three effective years out of the ten or eleven that he was here.

I thought Tapau was a bargain buy considering the high return on investment. I suppose if he had bonuses in his contract for becoming a test player then he wouldn't be a bargain anymore. Still, off to Manly for 4 years when he is still under contract.

Taylor must have a plan. Taupau gone, Farah going, to be replaced by blokes on the fringe of the fringe of NRL. 2016 is gonna be tough.

Tapau must have been mightily p'ed off at WT. In his statement via Manly- 'looking forward to fresh start' etc, no thanks to WT, even for releasing him early when they didnt have to.

Bad form in my humble opinion.

I note WT in their statement use the salary cap $$$ as a benefit and the securing young players with the $$$. I fear 2016 bodes worse for WT than 2015. We are in a mess.

Yay. The tigers are the Cowboys of 20 years ago. No one wants to come here. No one wants to be here. And no one expects us to do anything but lose.

Good job!

Give Moses another 200k. Hes earned it.

I dont care if Tapau wants a million next year , its erelevant. He is under contract for 2016 and we need forwards so why the f**k did we let him go early . The team is f**ked already and now more so , any cost savings they percieve to make will be lost when membership drops as well as gate sales etc when supporters lose interest in watching spoon contenders. Yes we cant keep everyone , but a half decent club plans replacements and not just release players at the drop of a hat without the nesasary replacement.
Forwards ... Tapau , Lodge , Galloway, Kaoula and perhaps Farah gone and f**k all replacements.. what a joke

Its been mentioned before I think , but its almost like this merkin Taylor has been employed to kill of WT for the reasons of possible expansion or further amalgamations.

It seems like he is trying to f**k us over doesn't it. If you are looking for a bad decision to be made he makes it.

You just keep him for next year. Don't pay overs but make him stay if you have him on the cheap.

Taylor must have had a picture of a board member with a horse. Only that explains the baffling decision to hire him. Hopefully we will free up enough money to pay out this gimps contract and get toovs

I see what JT is doing, building a winning culture towards lifting the NRL wooden spoon in 2016...f##k##g dillusional muppet is killing our club,he needs to be ars#holed immediately regardless of the cost for the good of our clubs survival.

i could forgive the Taupau departure if we had've secured Symonds.

But no, we f**ked ourselves over twice in the whole deal.

Thats what pisses me off the most.

This club just keeps sinking into the mud, maybe that conspiracy theory about forced relocation has something to it.

Daily Tele has another tigers story up now. About poor working conditions and Robbie quits as captain.

Let's face it, the NRL would love nothing more than to lose a club out of Sydney and a relocation to Perth to sell in that 9.30 EST spot.
