Popularity isn't determined by how good you are at running things - if anything it's the opposite. That's why the best leaders in the country stay away from politics.
popularity is a media buzzword what the surveys actually ask is which of the two candidates would you prefer as PM in other words who do you think would do a better job nobody is asking which one do you think is a nicer person

Has there ever been a Prime Minister or Premier who was actually "considered" popular when they were in charge?

They don't have to mate - people always think with their hearts.

That's why when I put shit on someone here they will decide that I don't know anything about football, and why when people use this forum as a place to build relationships they end up with a squishy little gang of people who value their opinions (even though their 'enemies' all think they're imbeciles).

That's how it works. We tend to judge people more favourably when we already like them, and are more critical when we don't.

They don't even need to be objectively popular; they just have to be actively opposing (as in a two-party system) someone who is even less popular.

What kind of idiot votes on personalities anyway? Ah that's right - the typical citizen of any democracy.

Bob Hawke

At the time though? I was only a young'n back in the Hawke era. Whitlam seems to get a lot of love part of the deal that goes with being a politician is that you're hated when you're in charge. Popularity when it comes to politicians just comes down to who is disliked the least.

The way the media spin things and sway people's opinion adds to that too.

I know I'll get flamed here for being negative. After all he's scored 3 tries in two games and done some really good things - but I was sitting there last night thinking this bloke struggles to feed nice ball to his outside backs. With the ball in his hands he tends to take a step or two and throw an ordinary pass putting the receiver under pressure. His 5th tackle kick options are the same as he hesitates before he kicks and puts pressure on himself.

On the upside, he runs the ball to the line which is certainly his strength. Does he have a money ball, a short passing game ? I don't know.

TBH I didn't see much of him last year, so I don't know if he's just settling in. Hopefully he has more in his bag of tricks than I've seen so far to justify his price tag.

On the upside, he's way better than the crap we've had to put up with in the past and he can only improve with good coaching.

I was thinking how nice it was to have an actual half back and five eight in the side. Good signs from Sandow in his first two games - not afraid to run to the line, tries to lift the side.

But yes he can improve on the long passing game.

dont worry about his price tag ,if he wasnt there last night it would have been very embarrassing.

Gronk good post. Sandow could improve his passing game. It seems when Keating passes it takes an age and then Sandow is a little quicker but not quick enough. When Roberts did get the ball the defence was already in his face. Tim Simth had a great passing game but no running game. It's very hard to get someone with the whole package e.g Andrew Johns.

And I did notice a few times yesterday that Sandow does hesitate when it comes to kicking. All are technical things that can be fixed.

This is something I said 3 weeks ago and was shot down in flames by plenty of people. He looks hopelessly out of shape and uninterested.

It wouldnt surprise me in the slightest if he was no longer in the Club before the end of the season..... The media conference and Kearney's response shows he is now going to be under real pressure and I think he will just pack up stumps and go home before too long....

It was always going to be a concern as to how Sandow would adapt to the Eels culture (if we have one). He's certainly looking unfit though, definitely looks a bit chubby running round and also out of breath at times.

Heavy pockets and too much take away food.

He has lost his spark, showing no interest at all
