Will someone please stop Ricky and Mal bending the rules to save their own arses. Mal has won six straight. He is joking surely. Rangi Chase playing for England is why Rugby League will never be taken seriously.

The most absurd selections for NZ in recent years have been Fien and Webb. They are the James Tamou of the NZ test team. I really, really wish they weren't selected for us.

cayless opted for NZ over australia..........not a state over a country

you have kids like hoffman & beale choosing NZ over australia for family, heritage reasons..good on them!

then you have players like kasiano, uate etc choosing NSW/QLD over nations for CASH

compare the 2 if you like...but anyone with any moral scruples can see which is right and which is wrong

A true blue Aussie like him should never have pulled on a Kiwi jersey.

Just reading this stuff about how tough a choice it is makes me sick. You're either eligible or you're not, there shouldn't be any choice in it.

This sort of thing will continue to hold the international game back. I also think that if we see more kiwis getting in it will make a mockery of the origin concept. It's going to be awesome listening to the post match interviews with the players talking in a kiwi accent.

This is bad for both forms of rep football.

Some people do have a choice though, they have allegiances to more than one country and have to make a choice. Kasiano however should not have a choice!

It wouldn't really be much of a problem if it wasn't for scum bags like Maninga still going after Kiwi players even after they have turned him away.

This situation has the potential to turn into a total farce.

With the growing amount of Kiwi's being signed by clubs and coming over at 16 & 17 years of age this scenerio will come up every year.

Tamou,Kasiano, Papalii, Tamulolo will be first of many that will have to choose between country or $$$$$

In Tamou's press conference he mentioned several times his decision was based on whats best for him and his family...ie: Money

Im hoping the IC can sort things out once the TV deal out of the way.

The majority of dual eligible players still choose NZ. They have lost one potential player in tamou to origin, the majority such as foran, Hoffman, nightingale etc still choose NZ despite being born or raised in aus.

The answer is giving other countries the opportunity to play rep football while Australia have their origin series. It is not about the money, players such as tamou play origin for the glory. It is a massive event in oz and is in every players face for 2 months of the year. Other countries need the chance to play there own brand of rep footy and give players a fairer choice on who they wish to represent!

What I can't get my head around is why do players who aren't eligilble even get considered? Not all players running around in the NRL can, and nor should they, play SoO. If you weren't born in NSW or QL then it's hard luck. A quirk of fate may deny great players the chance to play SoO but that's just bad luck on their part. Those same players would still have the chance to represent Australia if they are good enough and eligible. State of Origin. The clue is in the name. Years ago Yorkshire Cricket Club had a policy whereby you had to be born in Yorkshire to play for Yorkshire and there were no exceptions. Even a player who was adopted by a Yorkshire based family at a very young age was turned away because he was born in Lincolnshire.

You're living in fantasy land if you think money doesnt play a major factor...especially if payments go up to 150k a series. Do you really think Tamou grew up in Palmerston North NZ with big dreams of one day playing for the Blues and Kangaroos??..same with Uate and Kasiano. A large part of the Kiwi team has dual eligiblity and i bet they'd think twice if the payments were 150k back when they made thier decision.

The answer isnt more rep footy, the crem dela crem will still chose SOO above thier countries. The answer is to tighten eligabilty, Sam Kasiano playing 1 season in Qld at age 17 isnt enough to play Origin in my books!

while i agree we should be playing test footy while origin is on,or at the very least when the anzac test is on,....players are still going to gravitate to NSW or QLD for the money hutch...get ya head out the sand mate
