While i like him and wouldnt drop him completely out of the picture, i think he has to go ASAP. He is one batsman who has been completely found out by the english bowling.

Martyn,Langer and Hayden arent scoring runs either but they in my opinion arent looking totally bad, they are just getting out. In my opinion Katich has just been totally found out by a succesfull plan and has no response to it.

Same with Gilchrist, but i could never see him getting dropped..

He should never have been picked in the first place, admittedly he has done better than i thought he would, but he proved the point clearly - if you want to play for Australia just move to NSW. It was as if he magically became a test player the day he moved to NSW.

That NSW thing is so true. Katich was solid for WA, but was never really in Australian contention. Moved to NSW and it was as if he added 20 runs to his career average in a few matches.

I'll also say that Michael Clarke further emphasises that theory of play for NSW, play for Australia. On what he had achieved as a player, he didn't deserve to play for Australia, there would have been 10 players in front of him (statistically), however he got in based on a few good innings. Not that I oppose having him in the side, I am all for him because I think he is our best future prospect at this stage.

Perhaps either of the Husseys or Symonds should sign with the blues this week. They'll be straight in the Aussie side for the 4th test.

IMO, along with Clarke, Martyn is Aussies most in form batsmen but keeps on getting out to top freakish deliveries or dodgy calls. He will score big runs soon enough.

Langer, Hayden, Katich, and Gilchrist on the other hand have no idea against this bowling attack. What do they all have in common? ....... Time to bring in a couple right-hand batsmen.

Langer has been playing fine, Hayden has been horrible for a year now, its time to go.
Katich gets like what, 6 tests to prove himself? Piss off. He is a top player. He scored a century upon getting back in the team (just a few tests ago) and played great in the first test. two bad tests dont make him sh*t. Clarke got in the team cos he is young and a bloody good player.

mate here we are in what will now be the biggest test match in a long time and we needa be fair dinkum. im a huge katich fan and you say hes only had two bad tests. but thats not it. its more than a failure. its the way hes got out and the ways he batted. hes clearly shown he has no idea against their tactics.

i hope he stays in the australian team long term , but for the next test i think he has to go, hes really been found out

It's amazing-All the people who are willing to hang Katich because of FOUR bad innings are the same who are willing to keep Hayden despite a run of SEVEN without a fifty and TWENTY-EIGHT without a hundred!

I find it even more amazing that you are willing to hang Symonds after TWO bad innings.

You my friend are a perfect example of a hypocrite.

I think it may be also becuase of the fact that there are more players ahead of him. I will tell you Hodge, Hussey, Watson, Love are all ahead of him. Heck I'd have Greg Blewett ahead of him! Symonds is a ODI player. It is not that he failed in those 2 tests, but he never looked comfortable at all. All this considering he looked great in the ODI's against Murali. He had his chance, and BLEW IT!

I personally hopes Hayden goes and makes a massive score. I firmly believe he can reproduce his run making ability. I'd be getting Clarke's back sorted out pronto as backs are one of the worst injuries to try and play through, even if it means him missing some games.

I like the look of Hussey and Hodge is surely not far away either.

If Hussey comes in it will be for Hayden.

Hodge is in the squad so he will be in before Hussey anyway.

Andrew Symonds, if he starts to consistently score runs in first class cricket at the same volume as your brad hodges and michael husseys....he'd be a shoe in for the test side.

Andrew Symonds has scored runs in first class. His highest score is 254. That must show that he has the patients to make it in test cricket.

Just out of curiosity are you pro or con dropping Katich. Symonds looked no more out of his depth than Katich has in the last two tests. By that logic, goodbye Katich you had your chance you blew it your never going to get close to test cricket ever again. If Symonds shows the form surely he deserves another chance to prove himself at test level?

By the way im pro dropping Katich, he has looked way out of his depth and i think Hussey is an England specialist, he is in too good a form to leave out of our underperforming batting line up.

Not 100% on that. I clearly remember ponting saying in regards to husseys ODI form (when we were all calling for him in the side) , "its been great and if theres an injury or for any reason someone has to come in, he will play" or somthing like that.

Probably leaving him in county cricket for the moment so he cant get some batting practice, somthing Hodge hasnt had.

The only player to be dropped for Trent Bridge will be Gillespie. Clarke will be out with his back. The Trent Bridge test isn't the place to be giving someone their first test, although Hodge will probably replace Clarke.
