I particularly like this bit ...

The assumption is unless there is an immediate and stunning turnaround in their fortunes, something has got to give. Kearney is hardly going to quit - if his time at Parramatta was to end under the current circumstances then his career would be in tatters.
In 12 months from now, the board, which controls the leagues club and NRL club, will face another election. Are they prepared to possibly gamble on their own futures by relying on Kearney to turn things around before the end of this season? Judging by Libertini's comments, the answer is yes.

Its true, Parra fans/members want success and if there is none in hte near future, the board are risking their own positions in standing firm on this. So, will they get cold feet at some point?

Personally I think we'll pound the puppies tonight and it'll be all smiles next week, but even then we'll be far from out of the woods.

At 4.20 it was the first link but anyway.

While the board are gambling with their own future, I think they are also taking the gamble that blaming the coach again will only prolong any return to the upper echelon of the comp as the new coach settles on his playing style. Tomato or tomarto, they have to gamble somewhere

''But if things don't improve in the near future it won't become a case of sacking the coach, it will be a case of reviewing the situation to see what else we can do to help him, in terms of support staff,"

This in my opinion would be the best course of action rather than yet another payout.

"it wouldn't faze us to pay him out if we had to."

It's not your money to throw away Mario ! How many times haven't the club been fazed so far and what does it add up to is what I would like to know.

"The coach has got a contract and we intend to honour that contract, and that won't change regardless of results. The board is united on that.''

This is what I've been waiting to hear. Even if Kearney needs to be replaced at some stage at least we have honoured our side of the bargain and won't turn away future prospective candidates. It will be a brave move by the board to see this through and I hope they have the courage to hold their nerve and provide as much stability as they can. I hope it works out well for all of us starting with a win tonight.

he has the full support of the board.

Just what I needed to hear.

Wonder who the new coach will be.

Mario Libertini, who is regarded as the most influential member of the board, said: ''I'm sick of reading all this rubbish. We're not a club in crisis.

Yeh - we're not in CRISIS - we just don't win many football games

at least the board indicated they will honour his contract and get whatever help he needs. He has proven to be a good assistant coach, so when will the board get the new head coach he requires to be successful.

Roy couldn't say "we will honour his contract" this time as we all know what happened last time.

At least with Mario we know that Parra are buying his ingredients of success.

I note that his Bankstown joint sponsors the back of the cross bar at the stadium. They are not a competitor to Firehouse ? Although Bankstown is 15km (20 mins) away people do travel that far quite often to eat out. I know I do anyway.

EDIT: Crinitis also have sign sponsorship at the ground, so don't worry about me.

Sandow was dumped to Parramatta's feeder club, Wentworthville, last week. He has been returned to first grade for the game against the Bulldogs, but only on the bench. The fact he isn't starting has baffled many onlookers, particularly since five-eighth Ben Roberts remains in the starting side.

After one bad game? Sounds like True Eel wrote this article...

The board will get a clear idea of what Parramatta fans think about the situation when the club's annual general meeting is held on Tuesday night. There, members will get the chance to ask the board questions related to the team's performance, and Kearney's future. It should be an interesting night. Kearney is clearly going to do it his way, as shown by the way he has dealt with high-priced halfback Chris Sandow and even favourite son, captain Nathan Hindmarsh, who is in his final year.

Just like to point out - Moree Champion, first with the big news!

So now that is cleared up......

I like that the media are basically telling members to ask about the section i have highlighted. It's bad enough that most footy fans believe without any scepticism exactly what the experts say.

And then you get the dopes who follow the poor behaviour of Beau Ryan, as seen by the Parra fans (They are not the only fans who do it, I know) in the crowd with the wrestling masks last sunday. Pathetic and brain-dead IMO. The whole 'doggies' gesture is saying suck my **ck. And this is ok for kids to copy it? I bet those blokes would hate it if someone said it to their wives or girlfriends. I just think it's a poor look.
End rant.

Agree totally with you on this. I'm quite amazed that the NRL on one hand is trying to promote how warm and fuzzy it is to women, but then this stuff is condoned? They must live in a bubble or something.

I also like the way they are quoting the lineup that was released on Tuesday as the starting side. Kearney never sends out the same side that he lists early in the week.

I actualy think Roberts will go to the bench and sandow will start.

not the point, How anyone can comment on the side to play tonight until the official list is released is beyond me. I think this week will be the hardest to predict. At least when wenty play first we can get some idea of changes.
