Hmm, that link doesn't work, it goes to a dictionary. There's no mention at all of what Kerry Packer died of.

It's strange as no news service, or article I can find says just what he died of. Heart attack, liver failure, suicide? Did he die of boredom, or was it shock as someone on here alluded to?

totally agree
there are sad, twisted, bitter people on this forum

People are sad, twisted and bitter because they don't agree with you? Because they don't think it's a tragedy that Kerry Packer died? Or because they don't agree with your perception of Packer's acheivements?

Kerry Packer's influence on Australia's on the television landscape is undeniable. I fail to see how that makes him a better Australian than you or I; especially given his motivation was the almighty dollar.

May he R.I.P and his family find solace.

So you have no idea?

Thanks for clearing that up.

Don't worry, its par for the course with him

He died of kidney failure by the way

And for those doubting his contributions to charity, go do some research and then come back here and apologise for talking crap

But are my negative vibes, due to his loyal support to the CHOOKS????

Hate to burst your bubble but he was a Souths supporter. He wanted to put some money into the Roosters in the 80's but Ron Jones told him to shove it where the sun don't shine. Which he did pumping it into Manly instead..

lol, nice one.

I didn't know he called himself a Soufs fan.

Maybe that's why they got so much support from the media?

I think you are a little wrong. He was a Souths fan in the late 60’s. He became a Roosters fan in the 70’s and a Bobby Fulton fan in particular and followed Fulton to Manly. Artie Beetson talks in his book about how Ron Jones and him went to and see Packer about contributing to the Roosters wage bill in the mid 70's,

And we all remember Kerry asking Freddie his thoughts on what it would take to win a premiership.
Freddie mentions junior development, taking time and several years....Packer thinks for a moment and says, "Nah f**k that, we'll buy one."

Kerry packer's contribution to Australia:

Took the worlds most boring sport and shoved it on TV endlessly from Oct to March.

Employed dickwads like Mike Munroe, Tim Ferguson, Tony Barber, Wally Lewis, Don Burke and Eddie Maguire.

Pumped $$$ into Manly

Took Rugby League discussion to Thursday nights, and festooned it with f**ktards like Robbo, Tezza Hill and Flatulence Man

Pulled Doug Mulray's show before episode one had finished.

Broadcast prime rugby League games into Perth for the 2am market.

Bored us for centuries with Sale of the Century.

Despite all that - he is an absolute champion compared with the OTHER media mogul. The wrong media baron died today.

Good bloke? Well, he did put a defibulator machine into every ambulance in NSW. Rupert would have pinched the wheels and left the ambulances on blocks!!!!

Condolances to the Packers.

who gives a sh*t, he was lucky enough to be born into a wealthy family, why deny him solely because of that?

In 100 years time he'll most likely still be influencing Australians as his legacy lives on.

What will you be remembered for in 100 years? 2000+ posts on a internet forum?

Sorry but Joe Average is a beach worm and Kerry was a Great White Shark.

Do a poll asking 20 million Australians if they'd rather have had Kerry Packer or You or I attend their birthday party.
