It appears, from what's reported in the papers, that Kewell will be used as a substitute
Now, I don't know that much about soccer, but surely, if he's fully fit, he's wasted coming from there. Wouldn't it be better to have him on for the whole match creating opportunities, rather than shoving him on later in the match and hoping for something?

No, he wont be wasted.

He came off the bench against Uruguay and was lethal.

We also need him against Croatia and Brazil.

The only reason Guus would start him off the bench is because of concerns over his match fitness.
He's done well in the practice matches, but is likely still a little underdone.
The match against Japan he'll probably be a sub, after that, he'll most likely start.

Guus is no fool, he knows how important Kewell is to Australia's chances.

I don't see the point in starting him on the bench. The guy has the potential to break down during a game so if you start him on the bench you are going to chew up two subs.

better to have him in the starting line up and warmed up properly before the game starts and take him off after 60mins.

We were doing OK against Uruguay without him. He comes on the field and we score shortly after. No surprise he was heavily involved.

Starting or off the bench, he'll make an impact.

Kewell is a name and that's it. Doesn't add much to the team.

And don't tell me "without his goal we wouldn't be through". Bollocks. Anyone could have scored it.
