key points from the tigers match

Just a few observations from the tigers game -

1. Darius Boyd = amazing. Probably the most important person in our backline at the moment. his form will guarantee him an aussie jersey albeit probably on the wing.

2. Weyman - i think it will help us long term if he does get suspended for a few weeks. this will allow him to freshen up. really has been struggling the last few weeks, has anyone else noticed how many times he has been getting smashed lately when hitting it up?

3. Beau Scott - seems to be gettting caught out a lot in defence lately. has lost some pace by the looks of it - does anyone know if he is playing injured or something? opposition are getting outside him a lot which didnt used to happen...

4. Stanley continues to impress and although cooper will come back into the team when fit, we really havent lost much not having him there...

5. Matt Prior - i think has found a home at prop. although still has time in the back row i think prop forward is his place long term given the depth we have in the back row. Already has proven to offer more then Dan Hunt in that position and Prior really had a great game against the tigers..

6. Costigan - also a great game and has cemented his place in the backrow. in his current form it may be hard for Jeremy smith to get back into the starting team unless other injuries occur.

I agree with the majority of that. Weyman definitely isnt bending back the line like he was early in the season and a few weeks rest can only be good for him. Still unsure about Prior as a prop, to say he is playing better than Hunt is a bit of a laugh. Hunnt was in splendid form before the injury and is a true prop unlike Prior who is more of a tweener.

Agree with most of those, particularly Weyman.

Another key point that begs mention is the performance of Jarrod Saffy. Is providing real, quality impact from the bench and is as tight as a drum in defence. He's a must-pick in a full-strength 17

Saffey's a must in the 17 as is Merrin - if Weyman gets a rest then Merrin can start.

Tigers are tragic. They can't defend to save themselves. Marshall is the biggest cat I've ever seen. Boyd threw him a kiss for that first try. Anyway we've got REAL opposition to worry about; Panthers, Manly, Broncs.

We have Manly after a Monday night game. Backing up after that is always hard to get a win.

There is still a long season ahead of us, more injuries and suspensions to come, they will all get a go.

And agree on Weyman, the break will probably be the best thing for him, he is still trying hard, and doing a perfectly acceptable job up front.. but it 'appears' he is playing below 100%, and im hoping its just an injury he can get over.

Weyman is looking really trim has anyone else noticed? Might be one of the reasons his hit ups seem to be lacking a bit of force.

agree - saffy has back to great form after his injury layoff. running harder then what he has done for a while.
