Yes thats true but he just does not have the ability to knuckle down, but then again thats what happened today with all of them.

They got into a battle, a battle they created by making poor decisions and mistakes, but when it counted no one knuckled down and really led the way.

After the sh*thouse showing he gave today, I think it's clear that Kurt Gidley is not the answer to the long term question Joey's retiring poses. Mullen looked good in patches, but Kurt didn't look good full stop. He's not a playmaker and never will be.

Yet again Kidley has been shown to be pretender.

There won't be a club in the comp that will touch him after today.

He should have signed a contract on Friday because his value has halved in 80 minutes.

Lets hope that Hagan takes him to parra.

Seriously, what the f**k game were you watching? Reynoldson hit the ball up well today and even made a few half breaks. I'm not a fan of the guy, but comparing his performance today to Kurt Gidley's is just unfair. He was one of our better performers.

I hope the 2007 coach (if he gets a say) and the current administration took a good long HONEST look at Kurt today.Simply he is being asked to do a job that he cannot do. Simple. No contract renewal for Kurt. Kurt is 8/10 for effort, 9/10 for enthusiasm and unfortunately 4/10 for ability. Hi IS NOT the answer post_johns. Kurt has been given more than fair enough time to proove himself and time after time, season after season, he shows that he is not a play-maker. The team today lacked leadership and direction. Twice in the dying stages we lost the ball on the first tackle playing for a miracle. Panic. To be realistic the retention committee have to bite the bullet and say bad luck Kurt you dont cut the mustard. Cruel I know but I think it has to be done.

I came in this thread to post that very thing Voice.

Reading threads earlier I noticed some saying Mullen would be 5/8 and kidley our half. If that is our future...no thanks. Kidley has been given ample opportunities at half over the years each time AJ is injured. So far he has failed to produce and continues failing each time. Today his kicking game was woeful. As a consequence our last tackle options suffreed and we struggled to get good field position as a result all day. We would have been better starting with mullen as half and kidley as 5/8th.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Reynoldson stood up today when the team needed him.

Yep have to agree that in the first half Reynoldson stood up to be counted.

Where did i compare kurt an reynoldsons efforts......... We are paying 200k a year for a solid player nothing more. Taner, lowrie, tolar all do the same as reynolson an somtimes more for no where near that price. Tanner would be on less than 40k i would think. So why pay reynoldson 200k for being a solid player at best. Imo that is just crap.

Imo that is just crap.

There's nothing that can be done about it now. His performance today showed he has class in him. He was our best forward after Smith and Simpson. The younger guys got outmuscled and intimidated.

he can be told to take a paycut or leave. Yes he played well today but he is no way worth 200k a year when we have younger players with more ability an showing it. 200k to me is rep player or future rep player money.

You don't know anything about contracts, do you? We can't just sack him because we don't like him. He'd be entitled to the entirety of his contract value. Like it or not, we're stuck with him until his contract expires.

contracts dont work like that

his standard response would be "I have 3 years left at 240k, pay me out, or ill see you in court"

its a nice theory, but ultimately like cwb said, we need to move on and get the most out of him while hes here

To be fair, when you've been training at pivot all season, working on team drills and organisation outside of Johns, then a day before the game John's pulls out, its pretty tough.
He's been filling in for Johns (unsuccessfully 90% of the time) for years now. It's not tough at all, they should have Mullen and Kidley (if it must be him) training together all the time, weather Johns is doubtful or not.

In spite of a mountain of evidence, people seem to still think that Kidleys a playmaker......most amazing of all is Hagans continued perserverance....what are his eyes painted on, can't he see whats happening.

Whoever thinks Kidley's a playmaker, is seriously kidding themselves. Based on his performance yesterday, it was nothing short of embarassing. It looked to me like he had no f**ken idea what he was doing.
I hope that he goes with Hagan to be honest.
