Reading this morning that Gidley is all but a certainty to be picked at no. 14 for the blues

good thing or bad thing......i think he is finally hitting some form, but not sure if it warrants a rep selection (was amazed he got picked for australia)

There's no way he should be picked, and I would prefer it if he was playing for us instead to give us a better chance of picking up some wins over the origin period. With Boyd already out all of a sudden 50% of our spine is gone. That makes it difficult. Especially when we have to play Souths who most likely won't be impacted by origin.

Saying that though, I can actually justify Gids being handed the #14 somewhat this series because at least he's been playing hooker for his club this year.

The downside to this is it means Waddell will probably start at hooker for us. Although Clydesdale may get another shot off the bench

He doesn't deserve it on form but it does have a real Queenslander loyalty feel to it. I like that. We are forever chopping and changing our team out of terrible selection choices to begin with. this Queensland side are the greatest football side ever assembled. We can either accept it or keep trying to look desperate instead of showing patience. I believe we will win this year. Farah will find form at origin time. Trying too hard.

People in other forums are going to go ballistic but if they have a specific plan for him I don't mind it ie. to spell Farah and give him a genuine rest. People forget that's he actually been pretty good out of dummy half for NSW in the past.

If he is only going to be there as injury cover and/or only going to play 7 random minutes a la Buhrer then yeah, it's stupid and pointless.

And yeah, not ideal for us for obvious reasons. Clydesdale should get another run you would think.

Souths will be impacted. Inglis is a certainty. Mcqueen, Teo, Sutton and Merritt not without hope either...

Out of that list, Inglis is the only one I see as a real chance of being selected, with possibly Teo. Having said that, losing Inglis should have a noticeable impact on their side.

It will be interesting to see how many players are selected out of their team for origin, particularly if they are coming first. The question I'd be interested in knowing his, what's been the previous lowest number of players selected from a team that's leading the comp?

If Inglis is picked for them then they will go with Merritt at fullback, which is pretty dangerous too.

i actually think he might do pretty well from 14 (his best position these days)

think the only game he played there for nsw we won? (i know he did once and we won, not sure if it was the only time)

If it's any consolation, if Gidley gets picked I'm going to torture & kill JobDog.

So it's not all bad.

Gidley is an automatic Blues selection just like Paul Gallen. So of course he'll be in the team :D

Inglis definitely and Teo will likely to be in the Qld side. Id say that counts as "impacted"

Before last week I would have said "You're Giddling!".
1 week shouldn't make a difference but has made me think a bit. We know he is capable. He has utility value but no real impact. Well, not lately anyway.
If he is picked just for cover as a utility I reckon he can do the job as long as he has no brain explosions.

I have always been a Gidley supporter and have always wanted his selection in the past however I'm starting to move over to the "don't pick him" way of thinking. This is mainly hecause I'm a massive NSW supporter and I have a belief that Kurt does not have enough to add to our current origin team. The problem I see is that when he gets brought on we are effectively weakening a position, Farah should play the 80 and we aren't going to replace any of our other spine players so what's the point of picking him other than if there is an injury to one of these positions which we know he can be a capable replacement. But if that's why he's being picked then that seems counter productive to me. I want to see Kurt win a series because I believe he deserves to but I don't see him having enough impact now.

Ridiculous, Gids has had two decent games (one in round one and one last game) and neither of them have been rep standard, just satisfactory for a first grader. With Luke Lewis' utility value as injury cover in the side i struggle to see what he adds. Plus we could use a few more decent games from him, we will miss him if he is on Origin duty unless Bedsy makes a miracle recovery

As much as Id like to see him win a SOO series I dont think he should be picked. Not that I think he wont offer anything but I think someone else will offer more

Yeah, I actually forgot about Inglis. My bad. Still though he's really the only one who's absense would have a big impact. Even if Te'o does get picked, Souths have so much quality in their pack it won't matter he's not there IMO. I doubt Sutton or Merrit will be selected...we'll see though.
