Sharks put the team before glory

SHARKS captain Brett Kimmorley has revealed another secret to the club's recent run of success: he has stopped yelling at his teammates.
Stuart Raper's men have slipped quietly into the top four with six wins from their past seven games, despite none of the players leading tables for individual statistics.
"I feel a lot less pressure. I'm not barking at the players as much any more," halfback Kimmorley said.
"I am just enjoying footy.
"I'm excited about getting a bit of form back. I've played two or three weeks in a row now."
Kimmorley revealed the Sharks had twice changed their style of play in the past year in a bid to make the most of their talents across the field rather than relying on a few individuals.
"I think we are just winning footy games by playing as a team," he said.
"We've got good game plans and we're actually carrying them out.
"We're not relying on anyone to get carried away and do something individually.

"It's funny how our whole game is ... we went from being structured to playing a bit razzle-dazzle and copying a lot of sides last year to being one of the simple styles of football you can play and executing it really well.
"No one's been selfish. I think that's where we've got really good. I think we learned a lesson through a few losses. When I've been hurt and when (Adam Dykes) got hurt, we've just adjusted games a little bit.
"Instead of relying on one or two people, we just do everything as a team."
The downside is that the Sharks' individual statistics are a long way from the top of tables kept by NRL Stats.
"The guys have certainly grown up a lot," the skipper said.
"No one's worried about our stats. No one's worried about whether they're playing great or not getting the ball.
"We are just playing well as a team. We are happy as a team.
"I think that's a good thing, rather than blokes getting dirty about 'I'm not getting the ball' or coming to Stuey whingeing about 'I'm not getting enough game time'."
Raper added: "We're learning from things we do well and from things we don't do well. We're picking up on them and not doing it again.
"Everyone's got a role to play and they're playing it.
"They're not getting selfish and trying to jump in the way just to get their stats up.
"(Paul Gallen has) got the s.... with that but he's loving it because he's part of a good team."
