With this latest signing we have replaced a "trash" leader/captain for one of the best and with Val Holmes, we now have an actual Ferrari that can kick long range field goals and is arguably the best goal kicker in the game. The Cookie signing brings leadership, culture, smarts, team and club first & pure speed.
Just need to bring in a good half and prop. Hopefully Atkinson/Wishart/Ilias and then Tyrell May and/or Lodge or similar.

The leak is all Sam Ayoub.. he must be on speed dial with Weidler.. who just happens to write a 'hurry-up slow dragons' piece less than 24hrs after the damn medical was done.. some of the parra supporters mentioned thats pretty standard for his negotiations...

Was well documented that Gutho played out the Season with serious injury
The fact he got the all clear is fabulous
His experience from the Back and in particular organising our defensive line will be invaluable
Nothing against Sua but i would also suggest he will be the Skipper
Plenty of experience and will be at the Refs all game
Who cares first year at Club .Crighton went ok at The Dogs
Even Cookie for that matter
And a leadership group of Gutho Cookie JDB and Sua
A Prop and a Half and we are Smokin' .....

i AGREE, im expecting no one will go near lodge until after the boxing match and assess hsi health and fitness before signing him.

I was wondering whether the boxing was a factor, looks like its scheduled for Nov 24, I mean he will be fit-as (so he wont miss pre-camp).. but i think there are 2 things happening here:

1) Lodge is considering a switch to boxing (if it goes well), maybe he thinks itll pay better as hes been on peanuts in his NRL contracts to date.. 150k offer from manly for their starting prop ffs.

2) Maybe Saints are waiting like Lance mentioned to see how he pulls up after the fight.. and in the mean time we can hunt for other targets anyway..

But tbh.. we could do with 2 middles, and god knows who we will find to recruit with 4 days left till pre-season kicks off... I wouldnt even blink at signing him.. unless this yet another player that needs board signoff.

I saw an interview with Paul Gallen maybe two years ago where he said he made $15m out of his post-NRL boxing career. As a boxing fan, I was gobsmacked. These footballers are utterly rubbish boxers. Still, the public wants what it wants.

Just on his side of the contract, $15m is 150,000 people paying $100 to watch him on cable or whatever. Is that possible? Maybe.
