King Gutho linked to Dragons

Gutho, along with Cookie & Val Holmes, are among the most significant player signings in joint venture history. Up there alongside Darius Boyd, Jeremy Smith and Mick Weyman.

I'm in agreement with those who are also now saying to keep Ravalawa for another season. Gutho will put an absolute rocket up his backside and it's a good chance of him coming good. This keeps the pressure on for the wing spots.

Sloan will still be desperate to try and hold on to the 1 jersey.

Congratulations….u guys were obviously the highest bidder!!
Congratulations yourself. Enjoy having the services of one of the best wingers in the NRL......except he'll be playing in the centres where he's done exactly......nothing for the last 6 years.
Congratulations also on scoring a totally unproven coach. I'm sure it will all work out well........

Disagree with Rava. Gutherson couldn’t do it with Sivo who kept making plenty of blunders Rava has had his plateau and apart from being a battering ram offers little else on the wing
In KOE cup he struggled to shine

Now the dust has settled , and we have got an early glimpse of the class and experience that Gutho will bring , can anyone else believe the Big Call that the rookie incoming Parra Coach has made ?
Ryles comes in and tells one of their marquee players , fan favourite and Captain that hes virtually not wanted ?
And by the way we are replacing you with a rookie up n comer from Penrith ?
And your role if u stay , will be in a roving capacity FFS
If as we are all hoping Gutho comes out breathing fire for the Dragons imagine the blow torch that will be lit under the Rookie Coach by the Eels faithfull ....

No surprise really Dungay Dragon

As a player, Ryles was always prone to dumb inexplicable brain explosions

Onya Jason, nothing has changed

Ryles is in a completely different place to where we are at.

He has a 4 year contract and realises that he needs to have his club firing mid-way through his 3rd year so he has 2-3 years to rebuild and will use that time to bring his younger hopefully to be long term players through and at the same time recruit some mid 20 year old players that will be well established 2 or 3 years from now

If he stuck with Gutho and RCG etc they would all be retiring just at the very moment he needs the team to be getting towards a premiership window so why invest further in players that will not be there?

S F on the other hand is already 1 year down and only has 2 years left to show that he is the right man to coach us into the future and much of the previous coach's plus his own investment in youth (Sullivan, Amone, Sloan, Lawrie) as well as the long investment in Hunt has come up well short so he immediately needs some older hard nosed, experienced "team" players to drag us out of the quagmire we continue to wallow in.

Yes Gutho will be an asset to us especially in leadership and Moses will now provide that at the Eels and will probably keep him there as he is now the main man.

I think Parra had too many cooks in the kitchen (and 2 captains), too much politics around the Brad Arthur situation... and needed a fresh start... and Ryles might be proved right, most teams have a lightning quick fullback in the modern game.

But I'm more than happy to be taking a punt on Gutho, we cant keep being the yoyo team who leaks soft tries.. those soft tries lead to hunched shoulders and then more soft tries.. we need to change the mentality..., and Gutho is part of that.. its much more than just the on-field.. and we were also screaming for leadership after a decade of noone.

Having Gutho in the gong though is just the best news.. it means he's all in.. he loves the northern beaches.. its his life... but he would have hated the commutes.. hated going to training.. now it'll be just down the road.. hes going to live and breathe the club.

Our problem will be - it's going to be very hard to get rid of Ravalawa. According to all reports so far no suitors, and his potential release hinges on us being able to make moves on other players in the market. So it could become a make or break situation. In the event that we do end up finding a deal, who comes in? Is JAC the right personality for our new culture era (he's definitely the right player skills wise).

S F ...only has 2 years left to show that he is the right man to coach us into the future and much of the previous coach's PLUS HIS OWN investment in youth (Sullivan, Amone, Sloan, Lawrie)...
"plus his own"??? Flanno had nothing to do with bringing on any of these four. And of the remaining two, one of them he is trying (with some success) to remediate and the other to offload.

FFS wake up and at least try and understand the context of the post which was in response to a question about Ryles & his decision re Gutherson.

I believe SF is now on a far better trajectory in regards to what we actually need at this time as compared to what the Eels need and that is essence of the point that was being made.

For the record if people are going to crawl up SF's arse for the Lomax decision then you have to also judge him on other matters.

He kept picking Lawrie, persisted with Sloan and kept Hunt who was nothing but cancerous so that is all firmly on him.

He persisted with these failures and kept picking the overwhelmingly under-whelming never going to make it Feagai's and that is a fact.

Fully awake to you and your pattern of tantrum-posting wrt Flanno. So,

1. Once again, CONTRARY TO YOUR EXPLICIT CLAIM WHICH I QUOTED Flannagan had nothing to do with introducing the players you mentioned.

2. You want to change the topic from who Flanno introduced to who he picked to play. Weak. Just face up to what you said, withdraw it, and move on.

3. How can you attack Flanno for selecting from among the players available to him on the roster? What else can he do? This is FDS, Flanno Derangement Syndrome.

Ok, I'll admit the post may have been a bit confusing to you so lets rephrase it as per the intent

"after other coach's failed investment in youth (Sullivan, Sloan, Lawrie, Amone) plus SF own investment in failed players like Lawrie, Sloan (still youth), Feagai x 2 (were only 22 with not a lot of 1st grade exposure) and persistence with Hunt doing what Hunt does.

Because of the above we need to now embark down the road S F is now undertaking and that road is a far better undertaking IMO and a very different scenario to that facing Ryles who has time on his hands to shape his roster as he wishes.

Re who if not Lawrie, Sloan, Feagai's, Hunt then R Couchman, Fifita, Tuitavake, Tamale, Finau, Marshke (6 games 4 wins including you know who) Lomax to FB as was suggested by SF at preseason so a lot of options other than persisting with failures.
