The SBW wankathon is in top gear on fox league, nothing against the guy but I’m sick of hearing about him.

That is the problem with stuff like this, the media. It happened when Wally Lewis used to play Origin in the early-mid 1980s. It used to happen with Andrew Johns was playing. It used to happen when Jonathan Thurston was playing. They over hype and talk about them so much you come to dislike/hate the situation, or in some cases the player, cause you get sick and tired of the media telling you how good that player is (or was) all the time.

The late Richie Benaud had the right idea, "less is more". You don't ignore it, but you make people want to look for themselves, no one like being told everything all the time. It drives you nuts.

I don’t know why we’re hearing about such a lowly paid fringe player. Odd.

Fringe player, Yes.
But 'lowly paid'? The NRL valued his short stint at $150k. As he's only playing 4 games out of 20 (or 20%), that's full season equivalent salary of $750k. Big money for a 35-year old squad player!

Your relentless digs at the Roosters are as ill-informed as they are tiresome.

which raises its own concerns with the rules, If SBW played a whole year on that money the roosters shouldn't be able to afford him, yet since he is only playing four games, they get to have him for the finals, essentially when looking at their squad and applying a "full year" perspective to it they are over the cap for the games that matter most

not saying they should pay him $750k, but when looking at cap compliancy it should be based on yearly salaries, hence SBW should count $750k towards their cap

in other words, he is on a 750k contract, but since he has came in late will only get paid 20%

I'm also not accusing the Roosters of cheating here, im sure it's well within the rules, its the rules that need tweaking

put it this way, based on the precedent SBW has set -

Cam Smith can retire this year, Storm get to spend 1m odd dollars elseware, and retain B Smith and Grant

They only spend 800k of it, then come finals time next year we resign him for 150k for 4 games

Cam can just play finals for us every year

Obviously that isn't going to happen, and I don't think it would be fair if it did, but it would legally be allowed to happen

Yeah Johns Warrington move made him and the owner look ridiculous.
