idk what the actual rules are (I'm guessing not what it should be) but based on this article, unless the roosters are 900k under the cap (hahahahaha) then in my books they are essentially over the cap for the last 4 games and finals (the ones that matter most

So all those clubs that are doing loan deals right now - you know, like the one the Raiders are currently negotiating for a broncos player - do you reckon they need to also have a 24 round salary added to their cap as well?

yes, they should (unless they also have a player leaving the squad)
otherwise the squad for the rest of those games has a yearly monetary value higher than the salary cap - but I guess thats just a flaw in the rules

There is no barrel to be scraped You are talking complete and utter nonsense.

What do you make of Ryan James signing for several hundred thousand below his largest offer - you know, his "market value" - to join the raiders?

I know you are a fan of a club who has basically spent the last decade paying overs for utter trash like Tony Williams and Kieran Foran. So I can appreciate you feeling aggrieved that not every other club runs their cap as f**king stupid as yours does. But you are just covering yourself in idiocy every time you try to add more shit to your giant pile of crap arguments

You managed to find another layer to scrape in your giant barrel of turds you call posts

The basis of your argument is to desperately plea with people to ignore his current contract that explicitly states what his overseas market value because of "reasons"
"Oh it's different" doesn't cut it. That doesn't mean his market value here is the Wolfpack deal, but that doesn't mean we stick our heads in the sand like gullible imbeciles, that's the option you've taken

Not to mention your complete sidestep of the rule that states more than one contract is not allowed
Who knows what can of worms that opens

I'm not suggesting they get paid a lump payment, but how do they figure out a clubs cap expenditure? They look at that as the yearly amount don't they?

If someone moves clubs and only plays half the year at a new club does the yearly salary that player would of been on get used to see if they can fit in the cap for that year or just half of what that is as he only plays half the games? (That's a genuine question)

For example a player moves clubs mid year on a 800k per year salary, does 800k get tallied into the new clubs cap expenditure or only 400k? If its only 400k then there's a problem with the system because that club is over the cap talent wise
Why should a club have to add the value of a player for a time he wasn't at the club? What utter nonsense! If someone plays half a season then the team gets half a season of value.

You really have no idea how the salary cap works, this example will blow your mind, do you realise there are many players who play an entire season for a club but get part of their salary from another club? The team they are playing for only has to include the part of the salary they are paying them in the cap not their full salary.

So their total salary cap value would be double what they actually earn?

Your articles are a week old, but to be honest, none of them work it out how the salaries are actually done.

NRL contracts run from the 1st of November to the 31st of October, so he has exactly 3 months remaining. 3 months being paid at $150k equates to $600k for the year. That puts him around the same level as Latrell, for a 35 year old of his experience that seem about right. Benji Marshall who is around the same age is on about $200k, Cam Smith is probably on more but is considered one of the best players of all time.

His current contract with easts puts his market value at $150K for 6 games.

Why does the market value set by his most recent contract not count?

do you even know what the term market value means?

Good luck to him.

Warriors could have really used him, but free is free.

Just know what it is.

I would do the same.

Ah, well we have a player leaving our squad. So I guess we are in the clear then.

And you'll be shocked then to know that salary caps don't work like that. They area sum of all the actual salaries you paid that year. Mid-season signings only include the actual money you paid to them, not a hypothetical amount you might have paid them if they were there the entire season.

You must think your raiders had a tonne of cap room considering you just signed that guy who f**ks school kids and are pursuing another forward from the broncs as well

If he was on the open market at the start of this year, he can easily command close to double the $400K the NRL conveniently valued him

You do understand that market value in terms of NRL contracts is not the maximum any given club is willing to pay a player, rather it is an assessment by the NRL of what is the minimum fair value for a player to ensure salary cap rules are not circumvented? There are many factors that go in to this, not least of which is what other players are getting paid.

If we are going to define market value as the maximum that any given club will pay a player then you are essentially forcing the player to go tot he highest bidder which obviously would be a silly idea.

SBW has been valued around the same figure as what Shaun Lane is being paid. Would you be willing to pay SBW more, less or the same as Shaun Lane?
