Kit clashing

I think unless the superhero resembles the clubs colours or mascot in some way then forget it.

Storm - Thor
Parra - Wolverine
Panthers - Black Panther
Roosters - Captain America
Raiders - Hulk
Knights - Superman
Broncos - Ironman

I would LOVE that, but unfortunately Panthers don't use ISC for their jerseys :(

Red and blue... made sense to me. Design itself wasn't that great, made them look very odd.
They did look like the Knights though

Yeah, because Thor, god of thunder... makes no sense when paired with the STORM...
Yeah, the connection is obvious. Can't have a purple Thor jersey though?

Falcon is a type of bird in a similar vein to an eagle... made sense to me?
Again, obvious bird theme. No reason it can't be predominately maroon

The Raiders have 4 different shades of green since 1982, including one resembling the one used this time.

LOL now you're just sooking.
You bet I'm sooking
Again, sooking.
I feel like my sooking is warranted with this combined with all the unnecessary away jerseys this year

Clubs want to wear the promotional jersey at home to maximise the promotional opportunities - would you prefer they don't give themselves the opportunity to make a truckload of money?

I think a clubs colours and identity is very important.

I'm not against promotional and different Jerseys, I just think that you should be able to tell who a team is at first glance.
In the instance of a one off I don't agree... and I highly doubt Marvel would be keen to send their character completely off brand by changing its colour

I get what you mean. If there weren't these 'clash' kits and unnecessary away jerseys all the time, it wouldn't bug me so much

Does

Does he have 89 on his jersey? Haha

39. Which means he played prop in 3rd grade, given the way they numbered the teams back then (1-13 firsts, 14-26 reserves, 27-39 3rds/U23/U21s, with reserves for all 3 grades starting at 40; Brisbane and Gold Coast only had 2 grades, so their reserves started at 27). Given the Bears player appears to have a 2 digit number starting with 3 on his jersey, this is most likely a shot from a 3rd grade/U23s match.

I believe this changed to numbering all grades 1-17 in 1995.

Away jerseys are mandatory, not unnecessary. The NRL Ops manual declares each club must have one, as @Captain Apollo posted earlier.

As I've said too - I'd much prefer clubs to wear their primary/main/home jersey on all occasions possible (outside promotional rounds e.g. Marvel, Anzac, Heritage, Indigenous, WiL etc), and only revert to the away/alternate/secondary jersey when there is some sort of obvious clash.

Was there ever any explanation for yesterday's debacle of two sides wearing barely recognisable away kits against each other?

Perhaps a protest that instead of being played at Leichhardt or Kogarah, the game was played away at that soulless toilet called ANZ

Gus already looks to have ruled it out on Twitter this week too.

Ironically saying he's "sick of changing the jersey all the time"
Penrith

Just need to wear the original pink panther jersey

In the early 80s I could watch the Dragons vs the Dogs on a black and white telly and still be able to tell the teams apart. Such a non issue. Away jumpers not even really needed.

Can someone explain why we sell our soul to Marvel? Does anyone know if it's a cash sponsorship? You'd really hope so.

If the only benefit is in a few extra jersey sales, I fail to see how it's worthwhile. Particularly when the characters they are rolling out are such household names as IronFist and Rocky Raccoon (I honestly have no idea what those things are, and I'm very confident I'm in the majority).

"Rocket" Raccoon. There are plenty of Marvel fans out there who know the characters. The Avengers film alone grossed over $1.5 billion. The films in all have made US$10,913,801,849 so far.

It is generating revenue for the clubs and the NRL, and the kids love it, so I'm all for it.

So much this - Marvel has become massive, with the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and the individual movies - It'd make a motza for the clubs involved - And, being a marvel fan myself, I love the idea (even though Panthers aren't involved)

who'd want their brand aligned with the biggest movie franchise in history with a global appeal? That's just crazy lol.
